Robbie Fowler left baffled after ‘really strange’ thing he’s seen getting said about Liverpool

Liverpool’s 2025-26 season so far has been rather strange.

There have been several moments throughout the season when it’s felt like the Reds were going to walk the league.

However, the fact that they’ve lost all of their last three games across all competitions is a slight cause for concern.

Some of Arne Slot’s players, such as Ibrahima Konate, have been miles off the pace, but the fact that it’s still early in the season means that they still have time to turn things around.

Robbie Fowler says it’s “really strange” that people are talking about Liverpool’s bad run of form so much

Almost every team goes through a rough patch at some point in the season.

Even if they win the Premier League or the Champions League, there’s always going to be a game or two when it feels like they’ve lost their way.

In Liverpool’s case last season, this fortunately happened after they’d already won the Premier League, so there was no harm done.

This season, however, after winning five top-flight games in a row, the fact that they’ve now lost two on the bounce came as quite a shock.

And, while speaking on The Added Time Podcast, former Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler gave his thoughts on Liverpool’s form and why he finds it “strange” that people are talking about it so much.

“It’s crazy because we’re talking about a blip this early in the season, you know, and I do find it like sort of really strange and quite mad, really,” he said.

“I mean, Liverpool are sitting okay. Okay. They haven’t been brilliant, but it’s not all doom and gloom, is it?”

Liverpool still have plenty of time to turn things around this season

The fact that Liverpool are just one point off the top spot despite losing two games on the bounce is impressive.

Indeed, most of the Reds’ fans would prefer to see the Anfield outfit in first place, but the fact that they’ve been so poor in their last two Premier League outings and are still in with a shout for the title shows how good they actually are.

Although Slot’s defence has been Liverpool’s main problem this season, the fact that his attackers haven’t all clicked yet will have also had a massive effect on the way things have panned out.

Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, and Mohamed Salah have all been far from their best this term, with only Hugo Ekitike managing to perform.

Although the three losses in a row are concerning, the fact that they still have the entire season to rectify their mistakes means that it shouldn’t be read into all that much.

At least, not just yet anyway.
