Liverpool were linked with a whole host of players during the summer transfer window.

Richard Hughes and Arne Slot chose to spend over £450million on new players, with some of them failing to live up to expectations at the moment.

However, since it’s still early on in the season, it feels like there’s a lot more to come from Slot’s men.

As mentioned, the Reds were linked to almost every player under the sun in the summer transfer window, with the agent of one of them now coming out and saying that he actually belongs at Liverpool.

One area that Liverpool failed to bring in a replacement for was left-wing.

Slot and Richard Hughes chose to sell Luis Diaz for a fee worth over £65million, and while it was a good deal for a player who was in the final two years of his contract, the fact that he wasn’t replaced is coming back to bite the Anfield outfit.

Players such as Rodrygo and Malick Fofana were consistently linked with a move and now, speaking to Belgian Outlet De Morgen, Fofana’s agent has said that he believes the attacker, who’s said to be worth around £51million, belongs at Liverpool.

“This is the season Fofana wants to show himself to the world, especially at the World Cup,” he said.

“If he succeeds, he can go from Lyon to a top ten club. We strongly believe in him at Roc Nation.

“Liverpool, Bayern, Man City—those are the clubs he belongs at.”

Malick Fofana would have been a perfect purchase for Liverpool this summer

Seeing as though Fofana is still just 20 years old, he has plenty of room to grow and develop into an even better player than he already is.

He’s contributed to three goals in Ligue 1 already this season and has been one of Lyon’s most important players.

At the moment, he’ll obviously have his eye on the World Cup, and if he manages to continue making a good name for himself and perhaps get a goal or two in the summer tournament, the Reds’ interest could be piqued again.

He’d be a perfect understudy to Cody Gakpo, and his arrival would allow Slot to have a few more options up front.

Indeed, the Reds do have Rio Ngumoha to think about, but, since Fofana can also play on the right if needed, he would be a smart signing.
