Why Liverpool talent Trey Nyoni is the perfect loan player for Steven Gerrard at Rangers

Liverpool have already got rid of a large chunk of their first-team squad this season.

Arne Slot has both loaned and sold many members of his team this summer to fund their massive £450million spend.

And, while the exits of some players, such as Darwin Nunez, have worked out for the better, Luis Diaz’s exit may be one that the Dutchman lives to regret.

However, with the amount of talent they currently have among their ranks, it’s hardly a surprise to still see rumours floating around about the future of some of their players.

And, now that Steven Gerrard is likely to return as the manager of Rangers, there are one or two players he’ll likely have his eye on to help turn things around at the Ibrox outfit.

Trey Nyoni would be the perfect player for Steven Gerrard to take to Rangers on loan

During his first stint in charge of Rangers, Gerrard signed a couple of the Reds’ outcasts.

The biggest-name player that he chose to sign was Ryan Kent, with the Englishman having a decent impact on the way things panned out in Glasgow.

However, with the Gers now sitting eighth in the Scottish Premiership, there’s clearly plenty of changes that need to be made.

This is why Trey Nyoni could be one of the best players for Gerrard to take on loan from Liverpool.

When he’s played for the Anfield outfit this season, he’s often been one of the better players on the pitch and has more than proven his worth.

However, with him just getting the odd cameo here and there, it’s hardly ideal for his development, which is one of the main reasons why a move for the midfielder makes plenty of sense.

Steven Gerrard’s own experience in midfield could help Trey Nyoni massively improve

At the moment, Nyoni is still just 18 years old, and, although the Gers have the likes of Connor Barron and Nico Raskin among their ranks, it’s clear that something else is needed.

Indeed, a lot of Rangers’ problems have come from their attack, but with Lewis Koumas already out on loan and Jayden Danns injured once again, there aren’t all that many players Liverpool can offer the Scottish Premiership side.

However, seeing as though Gerrard is one of Liverpool’s best midfielders ever, it feels like his experience could be transferred through to Nyoni and help him develop into a world-class player.

Of course, changes like that won’t just happen overnight, but if he does make the move in January, he’ll have had half a season under the guidance of Gerrard, which would be highly valuable.

At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen, but if Gerrard does make a return to Ibrox, it would be a surprise not to see him try to bring a couple of Liverpool’s younger players to the team.
