Simon Jordan admits he’s glad that ‘incredible’ Liverpool ace isn’t playing well

It’s no secret that Liverpool have let their standards fall over the last couple of weeks.

They’ve been half the team that their fans know they can be, with several members of their first-team squad performing well below par.

Despite this, they are still on top of the Premier League table with 12 points to their name.

However, their performance against Galatasaray on Tuesday cannot be forgotten, with the Super Lig club managing to beat them 1-0.

Of course, these last couple of games could have just been a blip, but when players such as Alexander Isak haven’t shown their full potential yet, it’s understandable that some fans are becoming concerned.

Others, however, seem to be loving the fact that the Sweden international isn’t firing yet.

Simon Jordan is happy that Alexander Isak isn’t playing well for Liverpool

After the summer-long saga that went into Liverpool signing Isak, you’d have thought that he’d have contributed to the team a bit more than he’s managed to do so far.

Indeed, the Reds do have Hugo Ekitike as another striker option, so things aren’t looking too bad at the moment, but without the Frenchman, they’d be in some serious trouble.

And, while speaking live on talkSPORT, Simon Jordan shared how he really feels about Isak not hitting the ground running at Liverpool this term.

“I mean I’m quite glad that Isak hasn’t hit the ground running because I’d like to see him struggle a little bit,” he said.

“It’s a bit mean-spirited of me, I know, and I look at it [Liverpool’s team] and think to myself, well, what is there to worry about really.”

Alexander Isak needs to prove why Liverpool spent £125million to sign him in the summer

When Liverpool finally announced the transfer of Isak, their fans were ecstatic.

The Sweden international was one of the best strikers in the Premier League last season, with his performances often single-handedly winning Newcastle points.

He’s only a few games into his Liverpool career at the moment, but from what he’s shown thus far, it’s unclear whether he’ll be able to live up to that price tag.

Most fans thought the Anfield outfit would be unstoppable this season, but that’s been far from the case.

The Reds’ next game is against Chelsea in the Premier League, with Isak likely to start the clash after Ekitike was forced off the pitch due to injury on Tuesday.

So, if there was ever a time for Isak to prove why Slot wanted to sign him so badly and why Eddie Howe dubbed him “impressive“, Saturday could be his chance to make his mark.
