Liverpool have had some world-class players among their ranks over the years.
There have been times when the Anfield outfit have been seen as the best team in the world, with their current crop of players among the best that have ever played for the club.
However, over the years, there have been some impressive teams that have come through Liverpool’s ranks, with the club only really finding Premier League success over the last 10 years or so.
Jermaine Pennant played for Liverpool in 2006, just after the Istanbul final, with Rafa Benitez being his manager during his entire three-year stint with the club.

And, although Pennant respected him, he shared that he was far more scared of Steven Gerrard than he was of the Spaniard.
Jermaine Pennant did whatever Steven Gerrard told him to do while he played for Liverpool
Gerrard is undoubtedly one of Liverpool’s best-ever players.
The Englishman played out most of his career with his boyhood club and forever etched his name in the history books.
Indeed, he more than deserved a Premier League title during his time with the Anfield outfit, but I suppose he’ll have to settle for a Champions League title and seven other major trophies.
And, while speaking to talkSPORT about his time with Liverpool and Gerrard, Pennant has now shared that he was more scared of his captain than he was of his manager.
“I was more nervous and scared of him [Gerrard] than I was Rafa,” he said.
“Whatever Rafa said, it just kind of went in one ear and out the other – at times.
“There were times where [I thought]: ‘Okay, I see what you’re saying’, there were times where I kind of disagreed.
“But any time Stevie said something on the pitch, it was like: ‘Okay'”.

Liverpool have come a long way since having Jermaine Pennant among their ranks
Although Liverpool still had a fair few exceptional players among their ranks during Gerrard’s time, it’s hard not to see their current team as their best ever.
That is, even if he was dubbed “incredible” by Wayne Rooney during his playing career.
Indeed, it may have cost Slot and Richard Hughes over £400million to construct, but with players such as Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz now among their ranks, they’re easily one of the best teams in the world.
Their impressive performances have already been shown this season, with the Anfield outfit managing to win all five of their Premier League games thus far.
In fact, they’ve even managed to beat Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and Southampton in the Carabao Cup.
Of course, it’s still early days and anything can happen as the season goes on, but at the moment, it’s hard to see anyone beating Liverpool to the Premier League or Champions League this term.
