Liverpool and Everton are set to face one another in the first Merseyside derby of the season on Saturday.
Arne Slot’s men are going into the clash as the in-form team, seeing as though they’ve won each of their last five games across all competitions.
They also have 12 points to their name, and they currently sit on top of the Premier League table.
Liverpool have faced a fair few tough opponents this term, such as Atletico Madrid and Arsenal; however, Saturday’s game against David Moyes’ men could end up proving to be the toughest test of them all.
Alan Shearer thinks Liverpool will beat Everton on Saturday
Each week, Alan Shearer is asked to predict who he thinks is going to win the weekend’s Premier League games.
Most of the time, the former Newcastle striker is fairly spot on with his choices, but there have been times when he’s been miles off.
Saturday’s Merseyside derby is going to be a tough one for anybody to call.
The Reds are coming off the back of a fairly intense game against Atletico, while Everton are in a decent run of form.
And, while speaking to The Metro, Shearer gave his thoughts on the “tough” fixture that lies ahead.
“Tough one to call, but Liverpool at Anfield, won four from four in the league without playing well, and Isak made his debut on Wednesday in the Champions League, so I’ll go for a home win,” he wrote.

As mentioned, Everton have been in some decent form this season.
The Toffees are sixth in the Premier League table as they’ve won two out of their first four games.
Moyes has managed to add a few new faces to his ranks, such as Jack Grealish and even get the best out of some of Sean Dyche’s signings, such as Iliman Ndiaye and Jake O’Brien.
However, despite all these things going Everton’s way, Chris Sutton still believes that Liverpool will have too much quality for their Merseyside rivals to handle.
“Everton have started the season well. Jack Grealish has given them that creative spark on the ball and Beto is a tireless runner up front,” he wrote for BBC Sport.
“On top of that, you know David Moyes will make them hard to break down, too.
“Liverpool left it late again against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday and I do wonder how much that game will have taken out of them.
“Still, they have plenty of options in their squad and, while they have not been at their best, they keep on finding a way to win. That’s what I think will happen again here.”

Until the game kicks off, it’ll be impossible to tell which version of each team has turned up.
However, if both end up playing to the best of their ability, it could end up being one of the games of the season.
That is, especially if Liverpool go 1-0 down first.
