Liverpool scored yet another late goal to seal their 3-2 win against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

Throughout the game, there were chances from both sides that were squandered, but in the end, the Reds dug in their heels and once again bagged another injury-time winner.

Although most fans expected Liverpool to run away with the game after scoring two goals in the opening 10 minutes of the clash, Diego Simeone’s men took them right until the end.

Again, Marcos Llorente was Liverpool’s downfall with the Spaniard managing to bag another brace at Anfield.

However, it wasn’t enough as Virgil van Dijk towered above Atletico’s defence and slotted a 92nd-minute winner away.

One thing that has been consistent about Liverpool this season is the fact that they’ve left it until the last minute to get their wins.

They’ve now won all four of their Premier League games and have added three points to their Champions League tally.

Indeed, a lot of the Reds’ results this season have been down to luck, and it feels like a rather unsustainable way to win games, but for now, it’s seeming to work out.

And, just as Liverpool’s winning goal went in, Jamie Carragher took to his personal X account and shared his thoughts on the Reds’ performance.

“Devils club,” he wrote.

Liverpool need to start dominating games for longer periods

Although there were five-minute periods here and there when it felt like Liverpool were the better team of the two, Atletico didn’t deserve to leave Anfield with nothing to show for their efforts.

Both clubs worked their socks off, and although Liverpool’s quality is clear, they need to become more dominant during games.

Because, at the end of the day, there’s only so long that the Reds can leave winning their games until the dying embers of the clash.

That is, especially if they want to win the Champions League this term.

Of course, the Premier League will also be high on Slot’s list of priorities, but if he doesn’t get his team to stay dominant throughout an entire game of football, they could end up on the back foot sooner than many think.
