Chris Sutton shares ‘big question’ over Liverpool as they gear up to face Burnley

Liverpool should have too much quality for Burnley to handle on Sunday.

Arne Slot is set to take his men down to Turf Moor with the Reds looking to continue their winning streak in the Premier League.

Even though Liverpool have won all three of their top-flight games so far, their wins were often left until the last few minutes of a game, which, while exciting, can’t become a regular occurrence.

Indeed, Slot’s substitutes have often worked out for the better so far this term, but on the off chance that they don’t during a clash, they could end up on the back foot.

On paper, Burnley are the worst team that the Anfield outfit will have faced this season, with Scott Parker’s men winning just one of their three opening games.

However, this didn’t stop Chris Sutton from stating that he still has a “big question” about the Reds’ team.

Chris Sutton believes Liverpool will have too much quality for Burnley

It goes without saying that Liverpool have been the best team in the Premier League this season.

The signings they’ve made, coupled with the talent they already had among their ranks, has arguably made them one of the best teams in the world.

Of course, only time will tell whether their mass spending spree will have paid off, but, on the face of things, it certainly feels like it should’ve.

And, during his weekly predictions column for BBC Sport, Sutton shared his thoughts on Liverpool’s chances and the “big question” surrounding Alexander Isak at the moment.

“The big question is will Isak start this game now he is finally a Liverpool player? I will answer that straightaway – no, so don’t get him in your Fantasy teams just yet,” he wrote.

“Isak will be brought off the bench for his Reds debut at some point, but I don’t think it will be a case where Liverpool will need him to change the game.

“Burnley will be looking to keep them quiet and also carry a threat. They gave Manchester United a good game last time out, but stopping Liverpool is a much bigger test.

“Arne Slot’s side have not really got going yet this season, but they are still top and have won three out of three league games.

“That’s a great sign for them, and ominous for their rivals – I always felt when I was a player that if we won without playing well, you knew there is more to come. It’s the same with Liverpool at the moment.

“Sutton’s prediction: 0-3.”

Alexander Isak’s debut is surely set to come against Burnley

Even though it’s unlikely for Liverpool to start Isak against Burnley on Sunday, that doesn’t mean the Sweden international can’t make his debut.

The striker only played around 20 minutes while away on international duty, and while he looked sharp, it’s clear that he’s going to need some time to build his match fitness up.

Of course, the fact that Isak has to do this in the first place is down to him refusing to play for Newcastle, but, seeing as though Liverpool have Hugo Ekitike to fill in the gap, they’re probably not all that bothered.

However, if things pan out as they have over the last few weeks for Liverpool, the Reds are going to need all the help they can get to get the win over the line.

Slot’s men left it awfully late in their opening three Premier League games to earn all three points, so if the same happens again, Isak is surely set to be handed his debut.
