Rio Ngumoha is clearly seen as the next big thing at Liverpool.
The attacker has already made his Premier League debut with the Englishman even bagging a goal against Newcastle to earn all three points for Arne Slot’s men.
And, even though Liverpool have had the perfect start to their Premier League season after earning nine points thus far, there’s still more that can be improved upon.
At the moment, the Reds have 5 senior attacking options among their ranks, with Ngumoha seen as the sixth-choice.
However, after a report that has just emerged from Anfield, the 17-year-old may not be all that impressed.
Federico Chiesa is staying at Liverpool despite interest from Turkish teams
Even though the transfer window is closed in England, there are still a few countries around the world that have it open for a few more days.
Although Liverpool have already sold a fair number of their first-team squad from last season, there are still a couple of players that you could see them shipping off in the January transfer window.
However, since leagues such as the Turkish Super Lig can still conduct business, it isn’t a surprise to see players such as Federico Chiesa being linked with an Anfield exit.
That is, especially since Slot chose to leave him out of his Champions League squad.
However, even though it’s clear that the Dutchman doesn’t trust him all that much, a new report from the Liverpool ECHO has outlined that the Reds have no intention of moving the Italian on.
The report outlines that the Reds will not ‘encourage’ any interest from teams for Chiesa despite the recent interest shown in him.
Rio Ngumoha has another player to try and get chosen over if Federico Chiesa stays
Although Ngumoha may get game time in the Champions League, now that Chiesa is definitely set to stay, he’s likely to have fewer chances in the top flight.
With Chiesa not being registered for Liverpool’s Champions League squad, it surely means that Slot will look towards the former Juventus man when they’re playing in domestic competitions.
As mentioned, they only have five senior options among their ranks, and with how packed their schedule is set to be this term, Liverpool are going to need all the help they can get.
And, while Ngumoha will be chosen to play the odd domestic game here and there, the fact that Chiesa has much more experience and is more versatile will play in his favour.
Hence why Ngumoha may not be best pleased about the Italian sticking around rather than being shipped away.
Of course, only time will tell what the future has in store, but for now, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen.
