What the Kosovo fans did to Alexander Isak as he made first appearance since Liverpool transfer saga

After a long summer, Alexander Isak was finally back out on the pitch getting some valuable minutes.

The last few months would have been an incredibly tough time for Isak as the striker had been training alone while trying to force a move to the Reds.

He eventually got his wish but it took a lot longer than most thought, meaning that he has missed the entirety of pre-season, as well as the first three games of the new campaign.

However, despite barely even kicking a football, he was called straight up to the Sweden national team for their World Cup qualifiers, with Liverpool’s new number nine playing the last 20 minutes or so in their final game.

And, what made his arrival even more interesting was what the Kosovo fans did upon his arrival, with their reaction rather strange to say the least.

There is no denying that the way Isak went about his move was far from ideal, but given Newcastle’s stance, it felt like his only option.

With that being said, the reaction that he will get from a lot of rival fans this season, especially from his former club, will be rather hostile to say the least, although he knew that after forcing his way out.

But, one thing that he did not perhaps realise is how global this outrage would be, with the Swede finding out the hard way on Monday evening.

When subbed on in the 72nd minute for his country, Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen reported that the reception suddenly turned unfavourable, with many even booing Liverpool’s new forward.

They stated that: “After around 72 minutes, Alexander Isak was substituted in, while Anthony Elanga left the field. The forward played his first match since May and was met with boos.”

By this point, Kosovo were already 2-0 up and looked pretty comfortable, suggesting that the fans may have just been poking a little fun at the new £125m man.

He may not have found the back of the net, but Isak certainly made a difference when he came on and did not look like a player who has not played a game for four months.

The Swede had four shots during his 18 minute cameo, three of which were on target, although neither tested the goalkeeper too much.

He also got on the ball a fair amount, although a yellow card was certainly one of the negatives from his performance.

International duty is now over for Isak so he will return to his new club, with Liverpool’s next game, and perhaps his debut, coming on Sunday against Burnley.
