Liverpool have had a rather busy summer transfer window in the 2025-26 season.
The Reds were one of the most dominant teams in the Premier League last term, and although some of their results towards the end of the campaign weren’t going their way, they still showed plenty of quality.
Indeed, it was clear that some extra attacking options needed to be brought in by Arne Slot to take some of the burden off of Mohamed Salah, which is exactly what he’s managed to do.
This summer, Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz have all been brought in as attacking options.

And, even though Liverpool having two world-class number nines among their ranks may seem like overkill, the fact that they’ll be able to interchange the two and not lose any quality could be essential to them winning the Premier League or the Champions League.
Louis Saha believes Liverpool could end up having two strikers in their line-up
Even though having two world-class number nines among their ranks is exciting, it does mean that one of the two could end up being played less than the other.
At the moment, Slot lines his team up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, and, even though Ekitike can be used on the left wing if needed, he’s much better off as a striker.
However, since Isak bagged over 20 Premier League goals last season, it’s going to be hard for Ekitike to keep his starting place in Slot’s team.
However, while speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, former Everton striker Louis Saha has said that Slot could end up changing his formation to have two strikers up front at some point.
“Yeah, it’s going to be very interesting to see. They could play two up because they have a bit of a different style where someone is a bit more direct, I would say, on Isak. And the Ekitike is a bit more the guy who can really link up,” he said.
“He loves to be involved. And in so many ways, he finds his way into the box. So he scored many goals with Eintracht and done really well.”
Liverpool could find themselves in a pickle if they can’t keep Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike happy
The fact that Liverpool have signed both Ekitike and Isak this summer shows that they mean business.
It was clear that this was going to be a big summer for the Reds with players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold choosing to pack his bags and leave Anfield.
However, nobody could have expected Liverpool’s window to have been so perfect.
They managed to get almost all of their dream signings and, while they now have plenty of quality among their ranks, if either Ekitike or Isak is left on the bench for too long, they could end up kicking off.

And, while neither are likely to force their way out of the club any time soon, it does beg the question of whether having two world-class strikers among their ranks will work out or not.
Of course, only time will tell what the future has in store and for now, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen.
