Liverpool are still pushing for Alexander Isak and his transfer saga is something they have seen all before.
The Reds have certainly had their fair share of world-class strikers in their time, but Isak would, arguably, be the best they have had for many, many years.
The Swede very clearly wants out and Liverpool are now just waiting patiently, although they do not want to stir things too much as they know how it feels to be on the other end of the situation.
Although he never refused to play, hence why he is still adored by the fanbase, Fernando Torres openly admitted that he wanted to depart Anfield back in 2011.
He eventually got his move on deadline day in January in a shocking move to Chelsea, but the retired striker has since explained why he made the move, and it is very similar to the accusations Isak is throwing around.

The early 2010s were a very dark period for Liverpool, with the club going backwards rather than forwards.
A lot of change was also occurring and that caused a lot of disruption, with many fans probably not blaming Torres for wanting to leave during that time.
And, they may sympathise with him more after knowing the full reason why he chose to go, with the Spaniard telling talkSPORT back in 2020 what led him to depart.
“I was really happy at Liverpool but if you remember at that time the club was about to be sold and it was a very difficult situation,” Torres said.
“They sold all their best players, Javier Mascherano left, Xabi Alonso left, [manager] Rafa Benitez left, and they started bringing in young players so they needed maybe five, six, seven years to create a winning team again and I didn’t have that time because I left my home in Atletico to win trophies.
“Unfortunately, there were also many lies by the owners that Liverpool had at that time and in the end, I needed to find my own way which was Chelsea, who I thought would be the club who would offer me the chance of winning trophies.”
Torres did not have the best of times in west London but he will not complain too much after winning the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup during his four seasons there.

The fact Torres was lied to is a real shame given everything he did for the club, and Isak seems to believe that the same has happened to him.
When he finally spoke on the matter and released a public statement, he said ‘broken promises’ was the reason why he thinks it is best for all parties if he leaves, but that is yet to come to fruition.
Isak was told to ‘name names’ of who broke these promises, but the Swede has not done that, leaving many to wonder why?
Just like Torres, Isak does not want to just compete in the big competitions, he wants to win them, showing just how similar these two sagas are.
