Liverpool managed to get their Premier League campaign off to the best start possible on Friday when they managed to beat Bournemouth 4-2.

Indeed, there were some moments throughout the clash when it felt like Arne Slot’s men could lose their grasp on the lead, but in the end, they reigned victorious.

Although they managed to bring home all three points, the Reds’ performance was far from ideal, with some of their new arrivals proving that they weren’t fully gelled with their new teammates.

However, Hugo Ekitike added yet another dazzling performance to his repertoire as he was handed the Man of the Match award in only his second competitive game for the Anfield outfit.

The signing of the 23-year-old is shaping up to be one of the best moves that Slot could’ve made this summer, with Liverpool’s fans noticing something else he did in the game rather than just score.

Over the summer, most of the Premier League’s teams have been on the hunt for a new number nine.

Liverpool have brought in Ekitike with a potential transfer for Alexander Isak still on the horizon.

And, although the Reds’ fans knew that they had an impressive talent on their hands after the goals he’s scored, his work rate somehow managed to go unnoticed until after the game.

Although Liverpool are still vying for the transfer of Isak this summer, it feels like Ekitike could easily be the man to lead their attacking line this season.

Even though the Frenchman has only played two competitive games for Liverpool this term, it’s clear that the Reds made the right decision by signing him.

Indeed, he may be a little lankier than you’d expect a Premier League striker to be, but with the way that he’s carried himself in the two games he’s played, it’s clear that he’s a top-quality striker.

His agility, alongside his keen eye for goal, are just two of the many attributes he brings to the Reds’ ranks.

If Liverpool don’t sign Isak this summer, it doesn’t feel like it would be the end of the world, unlike it did earlier in the 2024-25 campaign.

Of course, there’s still the rest of the season to go, but from what Liverpool’s fans have seen of the Frenchman so far, it’s clear that they’ve got a rather impressive player among their ranks.
