Liverpool and Bayern Munich finally came to an agreement over the sale of Luis Diaz on Sunday afternoon.
Diaz had been expected to leave Anfield this summer after three-and-a-half years with the Reds.
And although Liverpool had initially been adamant that the Colombian would not be sold, they have now agreed to his wishes.
In reality, it had always felt as though Diaz was up for sale at the right price this summer, and as per multiple reports, Liverpool will bank a healthy fee of around £65.5m.
That means the Reds will make a profit on a player who has given his best years to the club, one who played a big part in the Premier League title win of last season.
But if it represents a good deal for Liverpool, then it perhaps looks a little like an overpay from Bayern. And after digesting the news on Sunday, fans of the German club were not especially pleased.

Bayern Munich fans not happy with Luis Diaz fee
Objectively speaking, £65.5m seems like a fair deal for everyone in this case. Diaz is at the peak of his powers and has just scored 13 goals in a Premier League winning season, making him one of the most prolific wide forwards in Europe.
However, after losing out to Liverpool for Florian Wirtz this summer, Bayern fans have not been happy with their business. And they see the fee spent on an ageing Diaz as a further hiccup.
“What happened to our club?” queried one supporter. “How can so many people sit down and decide that paying 80 mil [Euros] for Diaz’s quality and age it’s ok?”
“Most embarrassing club with this board,” said another. “Imagine giving Liverpool more funds to get younger and hungry players and we get deadwood ready for our downfall.”

“Eberl, Hoeness, and the entire board are so fixated on Luis Diaz only because Liverpool snatched Wirtz away from us,” someone else argued. “The transfer makes neither sporting nor financial sense. Including salary, agent fees, etc., probably 130 million for a 29-year-old.”
“Luis Diaz, I’ll still fully support him, he’ll clearly be our second-best winger and an elite player in the Bundesliga, but I’ll never be okay with this deal. Either way, Servus Lucho,” another fan commented.
“Well done Liverpool, you scammed us once again,” one more fan surmised, with another querying “how long will it take until we see Luis Diaz in Saudi Arabia?”
“He’s not better than Sane,” someone else weighed in. “That’s how you can squander your transfer budget too…”
“Really awesome player and will help Bayern a ton! 75 is too much, 60 would be fair! For 75, they could’ve surely gotten a younger one!” another concluded.
Diaz may surprise Bayern fans
Although we can understand the slight disappointment from Bayern fans at the price paid for Diaz, they were always going to have to pay a premium on him.
He was a very regular starter for Arne Slot last season and Liverpool are going to have to spend big to replace him.
Nevertheless, Bayern supporters are perhaps setting themselves up to be in for a shock here. Diaz is a very good footballer, and he has every chance of being a big success in Munich.
Perhaps the experience fans had with Sadio Mane in 2022 is playing a part here. The Senegalese arrived from Liverpool with a huge reputation but failed to deliver during a single, miserable season at the Allianz Arena.
But Diaz is not Mane. Liverpool fans found that out to their chagrin throughout his stay at Anfield, but maybe for Bayern that could end up being a positive.
