Liverpool moved one step closer to the signing of Alexander Isak on Thursday as the Newcastle striker handed in a transfer request.
The Reds are still keen on bolstering their forward options after buying Hugo Ekitike and have identified Isak as the key target.
Despite Liverpool‘s keenness to get a deal done, Newcastle have previously towed a hard line stance that Isak was simply not for sale.
However, after the Swedish striker was left out of the Magpies tour of Singapore on Thursday, speculation began to grow that all may not be as it seems.
And, having stayed home on Tyneside while his teammates headed out East, it seems that Isak is ready to push through a move to Liverpool.

Alexander Isak could leave for £150m
Although Newcastle are obviously loathe to losing their star striker, there has long been a feeling of optimism within Liverpool that a deal could be done this summer.
And according to The Daily Mail, that deal now looks increasingly possible after Isak made Newcastle aware of his intention to leave the club.
They claim that the 25-year-old has made it clear that he would like to ‘explore a move away from the club’ this summer, amid strong interest from Liverpool.
While Newcastle are said to be keen for Isak to pen fresh terms and stay at St James’ Park, the player reportedly will not commit.

Liverpool are said to be ready to pounce, with the Reds claimed to be willing to pay a British record transfer fee in order to sign Isak.
Given the player’s desire to go, an offer of £150m would reportedly see a transfer ‘accelerate’ within the coming weeks.
Liverpool set to push ahead with Isak offer
After Liverpool made it clear to Newcastle that they would love to sign Isak, it felt as though there was more to run in this saga.
The Reds signing Ekitike took some of the heat away from the Sweden international, and convinced some that a move for Isak would not happen.
However, as Rousing The Kop exclusively revealed, Liverpool always wanted to sign Isak as well.
With the player now making it clear to Newcastle that he is ready to pursue the move, all that is left is for the Reds to hash out a deal with the Magpies.
It is not a given that an agreement will be reached, of course, but this record-breaking deal now feels closer than ever.
