Hugo Ekitike has been at the centre of attention for the last couple of weeks.
The attacker has been a highly-sought-after number nine with the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle battling for his transfer.
Indeed, others such as Manchester United and Chelsea have also thrown their hats into the ring at one point or another, but, in the end, it’s Arne Slot’s men who came out on top.

Although many have expected the Frenchman to make the move for some time now, he’s only just completed his medical tests and is waiting to be officially announced.
Liverpool could announce the signing of Hugo Ekitike on Wednesday
One of the main areas Liverpool were looking to reinforce this summer was their attacking line.
Players such as Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah may have had some of the best seasons of their careers, but others such as Darwin Nunez were miles off the pace.
This lack of form has forced the Reds’ hand into signing a new striker, and now, journalist Lewis Steele has shared when he expects the deal for Ekitike to be officially announced.
“He will probably be here, today is Wednesday, maybe on Friday, he will get here? I expect it to all be done today, maybe official confirmation later today, UK time, maybe tomorrow, but it’s all done, nothing to worry about there,” he said via The Redmen TV’s Daily News Update.
Hugo Ekitike has a lot to prove once he signs for Liverpool
Although Ekitike’s move to Liverpool is well-needed, it’s still a massive risk on the Reds’ behalf.
The 2024-25 campaign was the first time that the Frenchman managed to score over 15 goals in a season.
And, his best form didn’t even come until Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush left in the January transfer window.
However, even though the move is a risk, there’s no hiding from the fact that the attacker is a “special” talent.

But, seeing as though Richard Hughes and Slot have agreed to a fee worth over £70million for the number nine, he has a lot to live up to.
Of course, only time will tell what the future has in store, but for now, it’s anyone’s guess how things could end up turning out.
