Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool future has been under question ever since the 2024-25 season came to a close.
The attacker once again underperformed for the Anfield outfit last term as he only contributed to 14 goals across all competitions.
This lack of form has caused Liverpool to explore the market for a new regular scoring number nine in Hugo Ekitike, with Arne Slot likely looking to use Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz in their natural positions more often.

However, seeing as though Ekitike is now close to sealing his Liverpool switch, Nunez’s next club has been brought up once again after moves to Napoli and Atletico Madrid have fallen through.
Juventus now have Darwin Nunez on their radar
Now that Juventus are looking to offload Dusan Vlahovic this summer, they’re going to need another number nine to help share the load with Jonathan David.
The Canadian was brought to Turin close to the start of the summer transfer window after his contract with Lille had expired.
And now, according to a report from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Juventus are now ‘thinking’ about making a move for Nunez.
The report does, however, outline that competition for his transfer is ‘tight’ with the Italian giants already conducting an ‘exploratory survey’ on the Uruguayan.
Due to the fee Liverpool are demanding, however, Igor Tudor’s men could end up waiting until the ‘last weeks’ of the window with the hope that Liverpool would be more willing to let him go on a year-long deal with an option or obligation to buy.

Darwin Nunez’s time at Liverpool should be over
Over the last three years, Liverpool have tried to stick with Nunez and get the best out of him.
And, while there have been times when he’s looked like the best player on the pitch, more often than not, the striker has been outdone by his teammates.
Players such as Mohamed Salah and Diaz have both carried Liverpool over the last couple of seasons, with a lot of pressure being put on Nunez’s shoulders to deliver.
Of course, only time will tell what the future has in store for Nunez, but on the face of things, it feels like an Anfield exit would be the best thing for all the involved parties.
