The tragedy of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva has consumed the football world since their passing on Thursday morning.

The pain of those close to the two siblings has been absolute, with nothing in the world able to ease the feeling of despair.

Beautiful tributes have been paid to Jota and Silva, and they will continue to arrive in Liverpool and far, far beyond.

In time, perhaps the only crumb of comfort to everyone affected will be to know that the two brothers were loved deeply throughout their lives.

For Jota, his memory will live eternally on at Anfield. Liverpool fans will come together to ensure their No. 20 is always at the forefront of whatever happens at the club moving forward.

One way of remembering Jota is by reliving one of the things he enjoyed doing the most: scoring goals. And as Liverpool fans look back through the catalogue of decisive Jota moments, the player himself picked his favourite one back in 2024.

Diogo Jota loved scoring against Arsenal

Jota’s life ended with the forward having hit 65 goals in 182 matches for Liverpool. He was steadily moving towards the century.

In December 2023, he got halfway there, burying a brilliant finish from a tight angle against Burnley to seal a 2-0 win.

The goal was typical Jota, and a look back through the other 49 up to that point show evidence of a player who could score just about every type of goal.

According to the man himself, though, his favourite of them all was his goal against Arsenal at Anfield in November 2021.

“My favourite Liverpool goal was against Arsenal at Anfield,” Jota told Liverpool’s official YouTube channel in September 2024.

“The one where I dribbled past a few players including the keeper. I think it was a good goal and everyone in the stadium enjoyed it.”

With seven goals scored against the Gunners, they were comfortably Jota’s favourite opposition while at Liverpool. It’s only fitting that his favourite of all came against Mikel Arteta’s side.

Jota scored every type of goal for Liverpool

One thing that really does stand out when watching all 65 of Jota’s goals for Liverpool is that he was capable from any angle, with either foot.

Despite being a relatively small player, Jota was also excellent in the air. He had a leap on him and was not afraid to put himself in between much bigger defenders.

The Portuguese also got the biggest portion of his Liverpool goals in the last 15 minutes of the game.

As per Lfchistory.net, Jota scored 16 goals between the 76th and 90th minute of matches. He really was the man who often stepped up when Liverpool needed something big.

If you were to ask Reds fans to pick their favourite Jota goal, many would agree with the man himself and choose Arsenal at home. But there were 64 other brilliant strikes, all of which felt big, and all of which will forever be cherished.
