Liverpool have already featured heavily in the transfer headlines this summer, with the Reds being one of the busiest teams in the Premier League.

Although the Anfield outfit were one of the most dominant teams in the top flight last term, to stay ahead of their rivals, improvements will have to be made across the board.

The transfer of Florian Wirtz was finally confirmed on Friday evening after what felt like a lifetime of negotiations.

And, although Jeremie Frimpong has also been brought in, there are still a couple of areas within Liverpool’s squad that could do with bolstering.

This is why it feels unlikely that the rumour mill will stop turning any time soon.

Liverpool feel like a deal for Alexander Isak would be ‘difficult’ at the moment

One player who has been consistently linked with an Anfield switch is Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.

The Sweden international is one of the best number nines in the league, with Liverpool eyeing him as their dream target this summer.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, a move for Isak would be “very difficult” to pull off this summer.

“Liverpool would try to go for Isak [if he became available], but at the moment I don’t have this feeling,” Romano said on the Market Madness Podcast.

“The club too, from what I’m hearing, see it as a very, very difficult deal.”

Liverpool have also spoken to the agents of Hugo Ekitike

After the arrival of Milos Kerkez is also confirmed over the next week or so, Liverpool will likely focus their attention on selling some of their talent.

Jarell Quansah looks to be the next player to exit Anfield, with the defender having agreed personal terms with Bayer Leverkusen ahead of his move this summer.

The move is said to be worth around £35million, and his sale will help Liverpool recoup some of the money they’ve lost by bringing in Frimpong, Wirtz and eventually Kerkez.

And, although Isak is the Reds’ dream target, Romano did admit that Arne Slot had been in contact with the agents of Hugo Ekitike regarding a potential move.

“A name I can mention for Liverpool is still Hugo Ekitike at Eintracht Frankurt. Because if Darwin Nunez leaves, let’s see what happens with Luis Diaz, but especially Darwin, and I see Darwin leaving this summer,” he said.

“Well, I think for Ekitike this could be a possibility to go to Liverpool, because there were calls from Chelsea two weeks ago.

“Man United, in recent days, also made contact with the agents to understand the situation. But for Liverpool, this is also a possibility.

“Liverpool also spoke to the agents. Also, Liverpool considered Ekitike an interesting opportunity. And so that’s the name I would keep in their shortlist.”

At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what Liverpool’s team could end up looking like, but one thing is for sure: they’re going to be a force to be reckoned with next term.
