Liverpool fans all want to see something special for Crystal Palace when they visit Anfield on Premier League final day

Liverpool still have two more Premier League matches left to play as they move closer towards the long-awaited trophy lift.

The Reds won the title with four games to go and have been splitting their time between playing and partying ever since.

The final match of the Premier League season is the one Liverpool fans have circled in red ever since they were confirmed as champions in April.

Crystal Palace are the opponents at Anfield ahead of Virgil van Dijk getting his hands on the Premier League trophy.

And what was already set to be a special day became even more exciting on Saturday, when Palace themselves lifted the FA Cup by surprisingly beating Manchester City at Wembley.

With both teams enjoying a party end to the season, Liverpool fans have urged their club to give a special welcome to Palace next Sunday.

Liverpool fans want Crystal Palace guard of honour

Liverpool are set to receive a final guard of honour of the season from Palace when they welcome the Premier League champions onto the pitch at Anfield on May 25th.

However, after watching the south Londoners win the cup, Reds supporters took to X to urge their club to reciprocate before next Sunday’s game.

“I say we give Palace a guard of honour for winning the FA cup. Massive for them that,” said one fan. “Class that it’s going to be the last fixture of the season, and the first of next.”

“Give Palace a guard of honour next Sunday and someone get George [Sephton, Anfield stadium announcer] to play ‘Glad All Over’ 10 mins before kick off,” another added.

“Big party at Anfield next Sunday then! 60,000 fans having a boss time and a p— up,” another fan claimed. “Let’s give Palace a guard of honour and let them celebrate with the trophy with their fans at the end. Going to be a great day.”

“Massive celebration awaits at Anfield next weekend,” was someone else’s verdict. “PL champions vs FA Cup winners. Let’s show some class & give Palace the Guard of Honour first before they return the favour after. Make sure both the FA Cup & PL trophy are out for the world to see.”

“Liverpool vs Palace next Sunday will be the most joyful atmosphere on record,” another fan predicted. “Starting with a huge line of players and nobody to walk through as they give each other a guard of honour. Total of 16 sprints and some mid-game vomiting from the partying.”

“Liverpool vs Palace should be a guard of honour for both teams then head outside the stadium for the 90 minutes and play curby and necking pints,” one more said.

“So when they give us a guard of honour. We should line up and give them one,” said another. “Well done Palace. YNWA.”

And, finally: “Give Palace a guard of honour to lock us in for the number 1 spot for when Top 10 Respect Moments of 2025 is uploaded to YouTube.”

Will Liverpool give Crystal Palace a guard of honour?

It is a funny coincidence that Liverpool and Crystal Palace will play out a dress rehearsal of August’s Community Shield on the final day of the season.

Indeed, with both clubs having nothing left to play for, it should be a party atmosphere.

Palace actually have a decent record at Anfield and memorably beat Liverpool to end their title hopes on the ground last season.

This time, with both teams already metaphorically – and perhaps even literally – on the beach, anything could happen.

As has been established over recent weeks, the guard of honour is completely optional in football and, having received a few of their own already, we would not be surprised to see Liverpool line up and applaud Palace’s first ever major trophy win. Let’s wait and see.
