Mohamed Salah has last chance to steal niche Premier League record from Harry Kane by scoring for Liverpool vs Brighton

Liverpool’s match against Brighton on Monday is more or less a non-event as far as this season is concerned.

Having already wrapped up the Premier League title three weeks ago, the Reds have been in holiday mode.

Liverpool had a group holiday to Dubai after Sunday’s draw against Arsenal, while Arne Slot headed off to Ibiza for an end of season trip.

Having spent most of the week away from the Liverpool training ground, it remains to be seen what state the players are in for Monday’s visit to Brighton.

The Amex Stadium has turned into a really difficult Premier League away day in recent years, as Liverpool have found out on a couple of occasions.

The Reds have been excellent on the road this term, though, and the fact that Mohamed Salah can break a long-held Premier League record by scoring on Monday is evidence of just how impressive they have been.

Mohamed Salah can break away goals record

Throughout his Liverpool career, Salah has mostly been associated with having a phenomenal goal scoring record at home.

Indeed, the Egyptian seems to find an extra gear whenever the Reds play at Anfield.

But while that has also been true this year, Salah has actually scored more of his Premier League goals away from home in 2024/25.

According to Liverpoolfc.com, the 32-year-old has hit 16 of his 28 goals when playing on the road this term.

Brilliantly, that is a joint Premier League record, with Harry Kane and Kevin Phillips both scoring the same amount for Tottenham and Sunderland in 2022/23 and 1999/2000 respectively.

With just one away game of the season left, Salah will hold the record outright if he can find the net against Brighton.

Breaking down Salah’s away goals

You really do wonder how many Premier League records Salah will hold when he finally finishes playing for Liverpool. The man is a machine and this season he has arguably been at his best ever. Don’t agree? Well, he has the receipts to prove it.

Salah started as he meant to go on, striking on the opening day of the season against Ipswich at Portman Road.

From there, Salah scored in the next two successive away days, grabbing his customary goal at Old Trafford as well as burying a penalty against Wolves.

One of Salah’s most important goals of the season came away at Arsenal and he also notched crucial doubles against Southampton, Newcastle and Tottenham before the turn of the year.

In 2025 the No. 11 has simply kept on going, coming up big for Liverpool at Bournemouth, Man City and Aston Villa. It would be fitting if he can snatch the record from Kane and Phillips with one more goal on his 400th Liverpool appearance.
