Liverpool have been Premier League champions for one week, with the good vibes in the fanbase expected to last all summer long.

The Reds will celebrate the title with supporters later this month when Liverpool finally lift the Premier League trophy coupled with the bus parade that Covid-19 robbed from supporters back in 2020, with huge celebrations

With Chelsea set to give Liverpool a guard of honour later this afternoon, Arne Slot will want his side to end the Premier League season on a high, even with some tough games coming up against the Blues and likely runners-up Arsenal.

Yet looking ahead to next season, Jamie Carragher believes something will happen at Liverpool that hasn’t happened in over 30 years.

Liverpool tipped to be title favourites for the first time since the nineties

Speaking to Redmen TV, the pundit tipped Liverpool to be title favourites at the start of the season for the first time since the early nineties, with Carragher confident that the Anfield side will aim to build from their Premier League success this year.

Carragher said: “It’s time to put the foot down on the accelerator, I think. I look at the other clubs that we normally compete with who are not at their best at the moment, but they will get there, that’s the nature of football.

“But I just think that we’re in a position where people are saying we’re favourites for the league [next season], I don’t think we’ve ever been in that position. How long has it been since Liverpool went into a season where they were the bookies favourite to win? You’d probably have to go back to the last time we celebrated winning the league at Anfield in the very early nineties.

“Even though we’ve been a brilliant team under Klopp, Man City always started the season as the favourites and the team to beat, I think we’ll be in a position next season as the first time I back Liverpool to win the league or say they’re the favourites, they need to strike when the iron is hot.”

What do Liverpool need to do this summer to become pre-season Premier League favourites?

This summer is being billed already as a big one for the Reds, with Carragher predicting Liverpool to make six new signings as Slot looks to overhaul his squad and add more quality options for the new season.

And if Liverpool can follow through with this, there’s a real chance that the Merseyside giants will indeed be the favourites for the Premier League before a ball has even kicked, especially if Arsenal and City fail to recruit well in the window.

Indeed, Liverpool eased their way to the title this season despite few fans predicting the Reds could achieve such a goal, and building from this success will be huge if Slot is to make it back-to-back Premier League titles.
