Liverpool fans are expecting a big summer transfer window from their team as they look to the next phase of the Arne Slot era.

Sunday is set to be an enormous day for Reds supporters as they prepare to celebrate their team winning the Premier League title.

A draw will be enough for Liverpool against Tottenham Hotspur to ensure the title is won in-front of a home crowd at Anfield.

While the celebrations will not be slated to end any time soon, though, Slot and his Liverpool coaching staff will already have one eye on next season and how they can improve even further.

A busy summer window is therefore expected, with Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton one of those attracting interest from the Reds.

And after watching Wharton deliver a superb performance in Saturday’s FA Cup final win over Aston Villa, Liverpool fans are growing in excitement at the prospect of the 21-year-old arriving at Anfield.

Liverpool fans excited over Adam Wharton

Central midfield is perhaps not the area most in need of attention for Liverpool this summer. However, having failed to sign Martin Zubimendi last year, the Reds have still not found an alternative. There could be movement.

According to Liverpool fans on social media site X, Wharton should absolutely now be the man Slot targets to complete his midfield rebuild.

“Adam Wharton is sensational. Best player on the pitch running the show. We should sign him,” said one supporter.

“Adam Wharton breaks up play so well when defending I think he would be ideal at Liverpool,” another added. “I would love to see his stats this season compared to others especially last 3 months.”

“What a player Adam Wharton is by the way, would love him at Liverpool,” someone else suggested, while others were keen to explain exactly where the England international could fit in.

“Ok I’m kind of sold on Wharton now, he would certainly offer alot of balance to the Liverpool midfield,” said one fan. “He can stay smart behind the ball and has that invaluable ability to press exactly when you need to and fall off when you have to. Physicality is a big plus aswell, him and Grav [Ryan Gravenberch] would form an insane shield off the ball and good retention on the ball.”

Other supporters were more straightforward in their analysis, simply demanding Liverpool go out and sign Wharton on the back of his FA Cup semi-final display.

“Liverpool. Bring me Adam Wharton. Fantastic player,” said one fan. “How is Liverpool not all over Adam Wharton?” questioned another.

“I’d like to welcome you all aboard the Adam Wharton Hype Train,” one joker added. “Please take your seats, your servers will be around shortly to take your drink orders.”

Could Liverpool sign Adam Wharton?

Despite fans’ excitement, it seems unlikely for the moment that Liverpool will be anywhere near signing Wharton this summer.

He may be exactly what the Reds are looking for in terms of another midfield profile, but the need for signings in other positions as well as Wharton’s likely asking-price may make this a no-go.

Journalist David Lynch said as much immediately prior to the youngster turning up in the FA Cup semi-final in fact. Lynch claimed that a Liverpool move for Wharton is not likely as things stand.

“He’s definitely a player Liverpool like,” said the reporter. “I know they were tracking him at Blackburn and so they’ll have watched him at Palace and he’s still absolutely brilliant. But the problem is you’re hearing numbers like £100m.”

“I don’t think a midfielder is going to be at the top of their priorities this summer.”

Maybe the hype train is about to come to an abrupt stop. We wouldn’t be getting hopes up over this one, no matter how impressive Wharton is.
