Liverpool’s players are set to write themselves into history on Sunday as they aim to secure the Premier League title.

The Reds need just a draw against Tottenham at Anfield to ensure they will end the season as champions of England.

For some players, it will be their very first trophy with Liverpool. Others have racked up a fair few over the years.

Three players who have been there and done it all before are Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Alisson Becker.

After so long being right at the top of the game at Anfield, it is fitting that all three will finally secure a second Premier League winner’s medal.

Another player who has been hugely important to Liverpool this season is Alexis Mac Allister. And as he looks forward to becoming a champion with the Reds, Mac Allister has ranked Van Dijk, Salah and Alisson as his best teammates.

Alexis Mac Allister ranks three of Liverpool’s best

Mac Allister has been integral to everything Liverpool have done well this season. The 26-year-old has grown in stature to become a key man for Arne Slot.

One of the more unheralded things about Mac Allister is his willingness to speak on behalf of the team. He is never shy to front up to the press.

That is something he has done once again this weekend, speaking to Sky Sports in a fascinating video where he ranks all sorts of footballing criteria.

Tasked with ranking Van Dijk, Salah and Alisson from one to three, though, Mac Allister was visibly stumped.

“You’re putting too much pressure on me!” smiled the Argentine. “It’s so hard because different positions, I don’t know what to say, everyone has great attributes, everyone has been really important for this club. I would say all of them are legends for this club.”

“If we go to goals and assists, Mo is the best here,” he says. “Then Virg, amazing leader and the best centre-back I’ve ever seen. The best in the world right now. And then Ali, one of the best keepers as well, I think alongside Courtois and Dibu Martinez. So, it’s really hard, I don’t know what to do! I’m going to but Mo Salah first, Ali second and Virg third. But as I said the three of them are amazing and really important for the club and for this team.”

Mac Allister ranks Steven Gerrard as all-time best midfielder

One of the other categories Mac Allister was asked to rank was the best Premier League midfielders of all-time.

The Reds No.10 was asked to choose between Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, Man City great Kevin De Bruyne and Chelsea icon Frank Lampard.

“The one I watched the most was of course De Bruyne because of the age,” said Mac Allister. “Another fantastic player I used to watch a lot as a kid in Argentina, Steven, a legend of the club.

“So, from what I hear and what I watched I’d say Steven is the first,” he decided. “He had everything, personality, mentality, technique, physically he was good, he was the most complete player. Second Kevin De Bruyne and Frank Lampard third.”

Mac Allister will have do something incredible to get anywhere near Gerrard’s level at Liverpool, but he’s about to do something the Scouser never managed in lifting a Premier League title. Maybe he’s closer than we think.
