Alexis Mac Allister has been one of Liverpool’s best players this season, and as a result, Real Madrid have emerged as suitors for the Argentine midfielder.

Los Blancos are in the market for a long-term replacement for Luka Modric, with Mac Allister now a target for Madrid as the Spanish giants once again turn to Liverpool as a source to fix one of their glaring squad issues.

With Madrid already close to signing Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool also losing Mac Allister to the reigning European champions will be a huge blow for the Anfield side considering how good the former Brighton & Hove Albion man has been this season.

And Mac Allister himself has now come out and addressed the rumours surrounding a potential move to Madrid.

Alexis Mac Allister shoots down speculation over Real Madrid move

Speaking to TyC Sports, the Liverpool maestro all-but shot down the rumours that a move to Madrid is on the cards this summer, with Mac Allister saying that he’s happy on Merseyside after such an impressive season.

With Ibrahima Konate also a target for Madrid, rumoured interest in Mac Allister could be nothing but paper talk from the Spanish press, with the Liverpool no. 10 seemingly not considering a switch to the La Liga giants just yet.

Mac Allister said when asked about speculation surrounding Madrid: “I read the rumours and the news reaches me, but the important thing is the present. No matter how much the club loves me, if I play poorly this weekend, they’ll lose interest.

“I’m fine at Liverpool and I don’t have any need [to leave]. I have a lot of respect for the club, and I don’t think it’s necessary to talk about other clubs.”

Alexis Mac Allister could stay at Liverpool for another five years

Mac Allister has been nothing short of exceptional for Liverpool this season under Arne Slot, with the midfielder forming an incredible partnership with Ryan Gravenberch in a pivot that’s played a huge role in the pending Premier League title win.

And from what Mac Allister has said about Liverpool and his love for the club, there’s a real chance that the Argentine international could play for the Reds for another five or so years before opting to take his talents elsewhere in football.

Indeed, there’s a good reason why a club as big as Madrid are now interested in signing Mac Allister, but from what the midfielder has said about Liverpool, it will take some effort to get the former Brighton man to leave Merseyside anytime soon.
