Liverpool secured a huge Premier League win last weekend at Anfield against West Ham.

The Reds were 2-1 victors on Merseyside as Virgil van Dijk scored a late winner to extend Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League to 13 points, with two more wins needed from the last six games to confirm the title.

With Graham Potter impressed with Liverpool’s performance, the Reds showed first-hand why they’re on course to win only their second-ever Premier League title, with Arne Slot’s side by far and away the best team in the English top-flight this season.

And one West Ham player has now since admitted that he grew up supporting Liverpool and idolising their biggest stars.

West Ham youngster Ollie Scarles reveals Liverpool connection

Speaking to West Ham’s official website, teenage winger Ollie Scarles revealed that he grew up supporting Liverpool, with the England youth international coming from a family who all supported the Reds.

Scarles faced off against Mohamed Salah on Sunday and was given a brutal time by the Egyptian international as the youngster was eventually hauled off by Potter, with the Liverpool superstar giving the West Ham prospect a lesson he’ll never forget.

And Sunday’s game at Anfield had an extra gram of importance for Scarles with the winger admitting that he grew up supporting Liverpool, with the West Ham youngster saying: “I grew up as a Liverpool fan, mainly just because of my Dad.

“My Dad’s always been a Liverpool fan as they were doing well when he was growing up, so when I grew up, that was the household team, so I followed suit and was watching them. But obviously since joining West Ham, I’ve loved following how we do and obviously now that I play for us, I support West Ham all the way!”

What other players have admitted they support Liverpool?

Liverpool are one of the biggest and most influential clubs in all of football, so it’s no real surprise that a player like Scarles has admitted that they grew up supporting the Reds during such an iconic era of their modern history.

And plenty of other players have shared over the years their love for the Anfield side, with Everton winger Jesper Lindstrom a boyhood Liverpool fan with Brazilian legend Cafu also revealing that he is a fan of the Reds.

Indeed, Scarles is very much at the start of his football career with West Ham, and the winger will no doubt feature more against Liverpool in the future with the youngster’s development ticking along at a good pace.
