Liverpool’s response predicted as Ryan Gravenberch agent hints at Real Madrid transfer attack

Liverpool supporters have had just about enough of Real Madrid over recent years.

Los Blancos have become the Reds’ ultimate nemesis in the Champions League, knocking them out of the competition three years running and beating them in two finals.

Beyond the pitch, though, Real have also made a bit of a habit of stealing some of Liverpool’s top transfer target.

The likes of Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni have chosen the Santiago Bernabeu over Anfield in the past three years.

If that wasn’t enough, Real Madrid are set to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer having convinced the Liverpool defender to run down his contract at his boyhood club.

In short, the last thing Liverpool need right now is more interference from the Spanish capital. But, according to the agent of Ryan Gravenberch, they may not get their wish.

Gravenberch has had a great season at Liverpool. After a steady first term at Anfield the 22-year-old has transformed into a key player.

To illustrate his importance to Arne Slot, Gravenberch is one of only three players to begin every Premier League match this term. The other two are captain Virgil van Dijk and top scorer Mohamed Salah.

Naturally, this has led to conversations around Gravenberch as one of the best midfielders in the game. And judging by comments from his agent, Jose Fortes, he is hoping this could lead to a transfer to join Real Madrid.

“He’s good enough for Real Madrid,” Fortes tells Spanish outlet Marca. However, the agent also predicts Liverpool would not allow Gravenberch out of the door.

“We would love for him to play for them,” he says. “But Liverpool would ask for a lot of money . I know they’ve had their eye on him, but now it’s impossible.”

As well as commenting on Real’s supposed interest, Gravenberch’s agent lifted the lid on why his client joined Liverpool back in 2023.

“Ryan needed playing time to develop,” says Fortes. “I told Nagelsmann (Bayern’s coach at the time) that if he didn’t play, he would leave.

“We were clear that he had to go to Liverpool; he fit in perfectly with this team.”

In the two years since, Gravenberch has completely justified his move to Anfield. He has completely won the fanbase over after a superb sophomore season.

However, the Dutchman should not take this kind of support for granted. Any more comments such as this in the press from his agent and the tide could start to turn for him.

Liverpool were the club to believe in Gravenberch and give him a second chance at the top of the game in Europe. He and his agent would do well to remember that.
