Liverpool fans haven’t had too much reason to complain during what has been a terrific debut season for Arne Slot.
Nevertheless, after exiting the Champions League and losing in the Carabao Cup final before the March international break, the mood had soured somewhat at Anfield.
Things picked up slightly with a narrow win in the Merseyside Derby after their return to domestic action, but a weekend loss against Fulham sent nerves chasing amongst the Liverpool fanbase once again.
Given that state of affairs, it felt as though a pick-me-up was very much needed for the Liverpool faithful.
Thankfully, that arrived on Wednesday, with the news that Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are set to extend their contracts at Anfield. Van Dijk and Salah are expected to sign on for two more years with the Reds.
And as supporters bask in the news they’ve been waiting all season to hear, it feels like some more good news regarding Ibrahima Konate is now not too far away.

Ibrahima Konate contract talks set to ramp up?
It hasn’t only been Van Dijk, Salah and – the odd one out – Trent Alexander-Arnold – who supporters have been worried about losing this summer.
Konate has just one year to run on the deal he signed in 2026 and Liverpool are in serious danger of losing him if they don’t act fast.
Reports have suggested Real Madrid want to sign Konate, while links with hometown club PSG are never too far away either.
With full focus on Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold, it has felt as though Konate’s situation has been put on the backburner a little.

But as talks with the two veterans prepare to wrap up, Richard Hughes and the Liverpool owners must now put their energy into keeping the Frenchman.
There have been claims that Konate is looking for £200k-per-week in order to stay at Anfield. But with plenty of wiggle room in negotiations, surely an agreement can be reached.
Virgil van Dijk can smooth Konate issue
Certainly, if Liverpool cannot get Konate tied down by the time the transfer window closes in August, alarm bells will start to ring loud.
However, we see little reason as to why the 25-year-old would not be keen to stay at Liverpool.
Had the Reds been unable to tie his centre-back partner down and seen him leave this summer, you could understand why Konate would also be questioning his own future.
But with Ibou now knowing that Virgil is going nowhere, he will surely be keen to get his own future boxed off and continue to play alongside the best centre-back in world football.
So, it may not be quite as imminent as Van Dijk and Salah, but we think it won’t be too long before Liverpool fans get some more good news on the contract front.
