Very few Liverpool players came out of Sunday’s defeat against Fulham with any kind of credit.
The Reds were disappointing for most of the afternoon, deservedly falling to their first away Premier League defeat of the season.
But while plenty of focus has been on the negatives for Liverpool, there were still one or two bright spots throughout the game.
Conor Bradley was the standout player after his return from injury and Liverpool will surely be better for having the right-back start against West Ham.
Bradley was not the only player to make an impact from the bench, though, with Luis Diaz, Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa all having positive moments.
Diaz got his goal and had Elliott’s bending effort which struck the bar been just a smidge lower, he would have got one too. According to pundit Troy Deeney, the 22-year-old’s strike deserved to find the net.

Harvey Elliott praised for ‘beautiful’ technique
In the wake of defeat, Arne Slot should be questioned on why he is continuing to keep trust in the same players over and over.
The likes of Elliott in particular deserve more of a go, with the former Fulham prospect once again showing how he can be a creative force for the Reds at Craven Cottage.
It would have been poetic if Elliott had been the one to bring the game back to 3-3, and speaking on BBC Match of the Day 2, Deeney hailed the technique the youngster showed with his effort off the bar.
“In this instance they’re coming down the left hand side with Andy Robertson,” said the pundit, while analysing the play.

“Look at Harvey Elliott, he’s not just standing there watching, he’s waiting for something to happen.
This is so, so unlucky, the technique is beautiful to watch, he just fires that to the far post. If that goes in that top corner they’re on that roll and they’re feeling like they can win again.”
Deeney praises Liverpool substitutes
Elliott was already wheeling away to celebrate after striking the ball so well against his former club. Unfortunately, it was just too high.

This was not the only positive moment he was involved in, though, and Deeney also highlighted the work of fellow substitute Chiesa in trying to bring Liverpool back into the game.
“They even brought Chiesa on, I think he’s had about 45 minutes all season so they thought they’d give him a bit longer,” he said. “Even he gets in the mix, gets a great shot off, another good save from Bernd Leno.
“Again, Chiesa trying to run in behind, Diaz with the ball, big hit right the way out to Harvey Elliott, into Salah, this is a lovely little touch here and on another day that goes in the far corner, unfortunately it falls to Harvey Elliott’s right foot but they [the subs] were excellent, it just wasn’t to be and Fulham took all the points.”
After such positive impact from the likes of Elliott especially, let’s see if Slot rewards any of them with a start at West Ham. We won’t hold our breath.
