Liverpool are firmly in the market for a new right-back this summer as Trent Alexander-Arnold prepares to move on.

Although nothing is yet official in terms of Alexander-Arnold’s exit, Rousing The Kop understands that his move to Real Madrid is already a done deal.

With both Trent and Conor Bradley currently injured, a light has been shone on the limited options Arne Slot currently has within the Liverpool squad.

Bradley is expected to step up and become Slot’s regular starting right-back once fit, but the Reds clearly need another option next season.

And according to RTK transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey, Liverpool are searching far and wide for a solution.

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, Bailey says the Reds are exploring Freiburg right-back Kiliann Sildillia as one potential option.

Liverpool keeping tabs on Kiliann Sildillia

Liverpool have been heavily linked with Jeremie Frimpong as a potential replacement for Alexander-Arnold.

However, RTK understands the Reds are yet to firm up any player as a top target at right-back.

Instead, they are assessing several different options, with Bailey telling RTK that Sildillia is one of those to come onto Liverpool’s radar.

“He’s an interesting player,” says the reporter. “French, athletic, six foot one. He’s a right-back attracting a lot of attention and Liverpool have looked at him.”

“I think he ticks boxes for Liverpool. He’s had a couple of good seasons in the Bundesliga so he’s not completely unheralded. But we’re not talking Frimpong, £40-50m sort of thing. Not every Liverpool signing this summer is going to be in that price range.

“He’s only got a year left on his contract and he’s an interesting prospect,” Bailey adds. “Chelsea were looking at him as well and Man City like these big full-backs too, but I think he’s a different option for Liverpool.”

Who is Kiliann Sildilla?

For a lot of Liverpool fans, this will be their first time hearing of Sildilla. But, despite still being just 22, the full-back has already played more than 100 times for Freiburg.

Sildillia joined the German side in January 2021 having come through the ranks in France with Metz.

Since then, he has gone on to become an important player for Freiburg, and also played at the 2024 Olympics with France.

Injuries have disrupted Sildillia slightly in 2024/25, restricting him to just 17 appearances across all competitions.

But with one year left on his contract and his best years ahead of him, the Frenchman could indeed be an interesting option for Liverpool.
