Jurgen Klopp was loved by Liverpool fans for many reasons.
The German brought ‘heavy metal’ football to Liverpool and won every trophy possible during his reign, but the thing fans loved most about the legendary coach was his character.
Trent Alexander-Arnold labelled Klopp as ‘strange’ when he first arrived at Liverpool as he believed the 57-year-old was both intimidating and very welcoming at the same time.
Many noticed this about Klopp as the former Reds boss was a loveable, jokey character outside of the football environment, but when he stepped into it, the German could be a very fiery character.
The former Borussia Dortmund was probably aware of this himself, hence why he struggled with one thing at Anfield when he first arrived in England.

Jurgen Klopp found other managers ‘difficult’ in England
Klopp arrived at Liverpool in 2015 and would have had to get used to some major differences in England having spent his entire coaching career in Germany.
One part of the English game the German coach found difficult was how close the technical areas were on the sideline and the 57-year-old was delighted when they were separated further at Anfield during the early phase of his Liverpool career.
Speaking to Soccer AM during his early Liverpool days, Klopp opened up about this and explained why he found it to be a ‘difficult’ situation.
“We all respect each other,” Klopp said about other Premier League managers. “You always see when we meet each other in different locations such as I don’t know, the Premier League or the FA Cup or the LMA (awards), and there’s a lot of respect.
“But in England, the coaching areas are really close. Thank God at Anfield, not anymore. It’s really difficult to coach when your opponent is directly next to you.
“You shout in this direction, you hear him shouting and you cannot ignore it. He is shouting ‘foul’ and you think, ‘no foul’, but it’s difficult not to react. It’s kind of part of the show I think that we are so close.
“During the game, you both are so involved, it’s difficult not to get in contact and getting in contact during a game between managers is not a good thing because we are not all in our best and most friendly mood.”
This led to some heated moments on the sideline for Klopp during his Liverpool career, with everyone remembering his clash with Sean Dyche back in 2021.

Jurgen Klopp’s disciplinary record at Liverpool
For five consecutive years under Klopp, between 2016/17 and 2020/21, Liverpool topped the Premier League Fair Play table each season, which shows the respect the Reds had for their opponents during the German’s time at Anfield.
However, on the sidelines, Klopp would see his fair share of bookings and nearly missed his final game for Liverpool after receiving a two-match ban for comments he made about referee Paul Tierney after a win over Tottenham.
The FA at the time took into account when handing the German his suspension that the 57-year-old had a poor record for disciplinary offences, having appeared before commissions on three occasions in the past five years.
This is what made Klopp the manager he was, as the former Liverpool boss would have gone to war for his players. It might not have gone down well with several officials, but at times, Reds fans loved him for it.
