Harvey Elliott sends Mo Salah contract message after claiming Liverpool star ‘keeps proving the whole world wrong’

Liverpool were once again thankful to their substitutes for getting the job done during Saturday’s win over Southampton.

Just as they had to in midweek against PSG, the Reds needed to rely on those coming off the bench to make sure of the victory.

On Wednesday, Harvey Elliott was the hero after coming on in the dying minutes in Paris.

Elliott was given a little more time on Saturday, being one of three Liverpool substitutes introduced at half-time by Arne Slot.

Although none of Elliott, Andy Robertson or Alexis Mac Allister influenced the scoresheet, they were all vital in Liverpool turning the game around.

So too was Mohamed Salah, who hit a penalty double to move onto 27 Premier League goals for the season. And according to Elliott, Salah and his goals continue to ‘prove the world wrong’ about him.

Harvey Elliott hoping for Mohamed Salah stay

Elliott and Salah have become close over their years together at Liverpool. The Egyptian has developed into something of a mentor for his young teammate.

And why not? When you’ve got someone like Salah to learn from, you surely try and take in every little bit of advice you can.

That’s certainly what Elliott has been doing. And when asked about Salah by LFCTV after Saturday’s win, it was no surprise to hear the 21-year-old deliver some more sparkling words about Mo.

“I’ve said too much about him, he just keeps proving the whole world wrong, each and every season,” raved Elliott.

“The guy is just not real. He’s just an amazing player and to witness his greatness and what he keeps achieving season by season is just unbelievable.

“Let’s just hope he stays.”

Salah keeps smashing records

Elliott speaks for the whole Liverpool fanbase when he says he hopes Salah will stay at Anfield beyond the end of the season.

He may be on the cusp of turning 33, but the No.11 is in the form of his life.

Liverpool’s all-time top scorers

Salah broke more records on Saturday and even moved up to third on the all-time Liverpool top scorers list.

He’s still a good 42away from second placed Roger Hunt, but if he stays even just one more season, there is a chance Salah can reach him.

In the meantime, if this is the last we see of Mo at Liverpool, then supporters would be wise to enjoy it. There won’t be another like the Egyptian King for quite some time.
