Liverpool have been in contact over a summer move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, Rousing The Kop can reveal.

The Reds are on the lookout for new forward options with Darwin Nunez expected to be sold.

And with Nunez set to bring in a healthy transfer fee, it’s understood that Liverpool will have money to spend on a replacement in this summer’s window.

The Reds are exploring several options in the market, and RTK can reveal contact has been made with Sesko’s representatives over recent weeks.

The 21-year-old is likely to be sold in 2025 after two years with Leipzig, and it’s understood that a move to the Premier League is growing increasingly likely.

Liverpool are not the only interested party, with Sesko having previously communicated a preference to join a London club. However, the Slovenian’s camp are understood to have made it clear that he is now very much open to other options.

Liverpool can take advantage of Benjamin Sesko agreement

Sesko has been a regular goal scorer for Leipzig ever since arriving from sister club Salzburg in 2023.

17 of his 35 goals for the Bundesliga side have come this season and Sesko has an impressive 16 goals in 39 caps for Slovenia.

Given his ability, there has long been a feeling that Sesko is destined to play at one of Europe’s top clubs.

Leipzig are understood to recognise this, and RTK have been informed that there is a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ between the Red Bull club and Sesko that he will be sold in the upcoming summer window.

The striker has a release clause of around £50m woven into his contract, but it’s understood that this will not necessarily have to be met in full to strike a deal with Leipzig.

With an internal agreement already in place that Sesko will be allowed to leave, the release clause is seen as being more of a ‘marker’ for the eventual fee.

Liverpool doing work on other options

Although Liverpool are starting to explore the parameters of a deal for Sesko, the youngster is far from the only option under consideration at Anfield.

The Reds are likely to sign an attacker regardless of whether Mohamed Salah stays or goes and are looking at both wide and central players.
