Liverpool could be set for a big period of change in this summer’s transfer market.

The Reds have been especially quiet over recent windows, barely adding to the squad during the past 18 months.

However, that looks set to come to an end in 2025, with plenty of work to be done by Arne Slot and the Liverpool recruitment team.

Part of that is likely to mean looking for a new central striker to lead the Liverpool attack.

With Darwin Nunez set to be sold and Diogo Jota simply not able to get fit enough for long enough, Slot is set to dip into the market for a new addition.

That could be bad news for the Portuguese, with rumours already starting to circulate that Jota could be sold at the end of the season. But as he heads towards five years at Liverpool, Diogo has now paid an emotional tribute to the Reds.

Diogo Jota thanks Liverpool for everything

Jota has been a terrific player over the past half-decade for Liverpool. Although injuries have been a problem, he has more than made his mark at Anfield.

However, Wednesday’s Merseyside Derby was yet more evidence that Slot no longer trusts Jota.

After a dismal showing last weekend at Plymouth Argyle, the 28-year-old was restricted to just two minutes at Goodison Park.

Nevertheless, Jota clearly loves the club. Speaking in a ’roundtable’ discussion alongside Ibrahima Konate and Alexis Mac Allister released on Friday, the former Wolves man paid a glowing tribute to everything LFC has given him.

“For me it means everything, to be honest,” says Jota, when asked what Liverpool means to him. “It changed my life completely.”

“My three kids were born here. I have a house here. I’ll always remember in the future even if I don’t live here, this city, this club, the way everybody supported me from the very first day, the club, the fans.

“I truly believe it’s hard to be in such a good position as I am as a player at the moment and I’m really grateful for that.”

Konate and Mac Allister echo Jota praise

Alongside Jota’s emotional speech, Mac Allister and Konate also weighed in with what Liverpool means to them.

“It’s a really special club,” said Mac Allister. “It’s not easy when you are a big club, normally there are a lot of egos and things. But in this club everyone can see the unity and the connection. I’m really, really happy to be here and hopefully many, many more years to come.”

As for Konate, his future is also up in the air just now as his contract ticks down to its last year. But judging by his comments here, the Frenchman couldn’t be happier at Anfield.

“I just live a dream,” he said. “Honestly, before I signed with Liverpool I spoke with Jurgen [Klopp] and he told me ‘the day you sign you will see your life change completely’ and I was like ‘okay yes, I can trust you’ but I didn’t expect like that. Everywhere I travel in the world we have so many fans. Everywhere. And this changed everything for me.

“Honestly, to be in this club means a lot of things,” Konate added. “Because I’m a part of the story of this club and I really hope this season and the seasons of the future we will do great things. I’m really happy to be here and it’s just a dream come true.”
