Liverpool advancing in talks over Hugo Larsson after revealing plans for big summer bid

Despite the brilliant form of Ryan Gravenberch, there remains a possibility that Liverpool are in the market for a new midfielder this summer.

The Reds attempted to sign Martin Zubimendi in 2024, but the Real Sociedad man turned down a move at the last minute.

In the meantime, Gravenberch has been a revelation, alleviating fears that Liverpool were understaffed in the middle of the pitch.

However, the Dutchman cannot do it alone. It’s important that Arne Slot has a viable rotational option within the Liverpool squad.

As a result, the Reds have been linked with all sorts of midfielders ahead of a summer raid. We think Angelo Stiller could be perfect for Liverpool and the Stuttgart player remains one to watch.

However, according to Caught Offside, the Reds are actually poised to advance in a move for a different Bundesliga midfielder.

Liverpool in talks with Hugo Larsson over transfer

Given how good Gravenberch has been this season – and the clear need to upgrade in other areas of the pitch – there is an argument that Liverpool should hold what they have in midfield.

The Reds’ three of Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai is one of the best in Europe and any additional signing would surely not be a regular starter.

Nevertheless, Caught Offside claim that Liverpool are preparing to go big with a bid for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson.

Liverpool are reportedly one of three sides showing ‘strong interest’ in Larsson, with Arsenal and Manchester United ready to rival them.

All three teams are said to have initiated contact with the Swede and his representatives, and have ‘indicated’ that they are prepared to send an offer in this summer.

There is claimed to be a feeling that Eintracht are ready to sell Larsson, and are reportedly valuing the 20-year-old at £50m.

Larsson looks a good fit for Liverpool

On pure playing style alone, Larsson would look like a good fit for Slot and Liverpool.

Tall, rangy and athletic, the Sweden international is not dissimilar in playing style to Gravenberch.

Capable of sitting deeper and keeping the ball brilliantly or bursting forward to score and assists goals, Larsson can do a bit of everything.

Manager Dino Toppmoller has called Larsson ‘outstanding‘ for the role he has played at Eintracht since joining in 2023 and he looks poised for a career at the top of the game.

The fee looks a little large for a player who may not come in as first choice, but with funds set to be available this summer, Larsson is one to watch.
