Liverpool are in as comfortable a position as they have been all season with the Reds top of the Premier League standings by six points.

Saturday’s 2-0 win against AFC Bournemouth was yet another statement performance for Arne Slot’s side with Mohamed Salah winning praise from Troy Deeney for his display as the Egyptian international bagged a brace.

Although Arsenal claimed a big win against Manchester City, the Premier League title is still firmly in Liverpool’s hands, who this month will face Everton in their game in hand in the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

And for Ian Wright, the former striker believes only one thing could now stop Liverpool from winning the Premier League given their commanding lead on the likes of Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and now Chelsea.

Liverpool will have to make ‘some calamitous mistake’ to lose the Premier League title now

Speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty Show, the pundit noted that it would take ‘some calamitous mistake’ for Liverpool to lose the Premier League title at this stage, with Wright confident that the Reds can go all the way this season.

Wright said: “They just seem so in control, this is why people are saying they look so comfortable, they look like they’re in go-mode, I can’t see who is going to make them stumble, it’s going to have to be some calamitous mistake or something from Liverpool, I just can’t see it.

Although Liverpool fans are split on City making a resurgence, Sunday’s seismic loss against Arsenal might have all-but put Pep Guardiola’s side out of contention for the Premier League title considering the gulf the reigning champions now have between themselves and Liverpool.

And if Liverpool can win their game in hand against Everton, there’s every chance that the Anfield side can steamroll their way to the title, with nine points simply too much for even a side as good as Arsenal to catch up with.

Liverpool could wrap up the title in their next six games

Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League fixture list is one of the hardest compared to the likes of Arsenal and Forest, with the Reds facing City, Newcastle United and Aston Villa, with a rejuvenated Wolves and Everton also on the agenda.

Yet if Liverpool can come away from this upcoming run with five or even all six wins, there will be no doubt that the Reds are destined to win the Premier League title this season, with Slot’s squad already on course for such an achievement.

Keeping everyone fit and healthy will be key to Liverpool’s success, and if the Reds can come away from their upcoming games with the wins needed to build their lead, the title could be within their grasp come mid-March.
