Liverpool have been linked with a number of players this January, with FC Nurnberg striker Stefanos Tzimas the latest target on the Reds’ radar.

The Greek youth international has been in sensational form for the 2. Bundesliga side this season, with Tzimas scoring eight goals and managing two assists for Nurnberg, who plan to sign the 19-year-old permanently at the end of this campaign from PAOK.

As a result of the teenager’s form, Liverpool are now interested in signing Tzimas, with the Anfield side ready to spend as much as £25m to bring the wonderkid to Merseyside with Darwin Nunez attracting interest from Saudi Arabia.

Yet Nurnberg’s sporting director has halted any plans Liverpool might have in regards to signing Tzimas this January.

Nurnberg rule out Tzimas January sale despite Liverpool interest

Speaking to Bild, Olaf Rebbe has shot down any prospect of Tzimas leaving this month, though the Nurnberg official did tease that the Liverpool transfer target could be sold at the end of the season when the forward’s move to Germany has become permanent.

Rebbe said when asked if Tzimas will be sold this January if Liverpool were to make an offer: “We won’t give up any top performers in the winter, but with a view to the summer, we are of course already looking at a few options.”

With Liverpool also interested in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, it’s clear that Arne Slot is keen on adding an attacking option to his ranks this year, even with the Reds having some of the best array of forwards out of any team in Europe.

And with Nurnberg’s sporting director earmarking the summer as the window Tzimas could be sold, Liverpool need to be prepared to pounce for the Greek youth international, who could be an exceptional long-term signing for the Reds.

Who else have Liverpool been linked with this January?

The Reds are yet to make a signing this January, though given with how many names Liverpool have been linked with this month, there’s a real chance that an addition or two could be made in the coming weeks.

Liverpool have made contact for El Hadji Malick Diouf after a meteoric rise with Slavia Prague, with Jamie Carragher eager to see a left-back brought in based on the worrying form of Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas’ injury record.

With Liverpool also approaching Wolves star Joao Gomes, all signs point towards the Anfield side making a signing this January, with one or two extra bodies potentially what’s missing in the Reds’ bid to win the quadruple.
