Darwin Nunez drops potential hint that he wants to leave Liverpool after claims AC Milan want him

Darwin Nunez has endured a lukewarm season at best for Liverpool so far and has found it difficult to find the back of the net under Arne Slot.

The Uruguayan is in his third season at Anfield after sealing a big-money move from Benfica in the summer of 2022 and has divided opinion among the Liverpool faithful.

With Diogo Jota now back to full fitness, his game time is likely to be reduced as the Portuguese attacker is ahead of him in the pecking order.

To make matters worse, the enigmatic striker’s social media activity suggests a transfer could be on the cards.

Over the past few weeks, AC Milan have been credited with an interest in Nunez, with the Italian giants recently parting ways with Paulo Fonseca in favour of appointing Sergio Conceicao.

However, a report from Daily Mail states that Liverpool haven’t heard anything from Milan about a potential deal for Nunez, although the situation can change between now and the end of the January transfer window.

Despite there being no interest from Milan, Nunez’s social media activity has come under the limelight.

It appears as if an edit was made with a picture of the Liverpool striker morphed into an AC Milan kit.

While the said image was shared as an Instagram story by an AC Milan fan, Nunez not only viewed it but also happened to ‘like’ the post, which may be an indication that he’s not completely against a move to Italy.

Not much can be made of it, but it’s certainly a bit of a silly thing do to as the smallest stuff on social media is spotted by eagled-eyed fans these days.

Nunez’s stats for Liverpool this season

Jamie Carragher feels Liverpool will offload Nunez in the summer of 2025, which could well be the case if he doesn’t improve his numbers in front of goal.

A tally of just four goals in 23 appearances across all competitions is simply not good enough for an out-and-out number nine, let alone for someone who represents a club as big as Liverpool.

Nunez has been described as an ‘excellent’ player by Andy Robertson, but he faces a race against time to save his Liverpool career and can only aid his cause by scoring a few big goals in the coming weeks.
