Liverpool have been magnificent under Arne Slot and have adapted seamlessly to the Dutchman’s methods after Jurgen Klopp’s departure.
The Reds find themselves at the top of the Premier League and UEFA Champions League standings and have put themselves in a fantastic position to win silverware in 2025.
A handful of players have stepped up under Slot, with Ryan Gravenberch, Luis Diaz and Curtis Jones really taking their games to another level.
And if reports are to be believed, Diaz’s future has been a topic of discussion as Barcelona continue to keep tabs on him.
Barcelona want to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool

The Colombian international has been in fine form under the new manager and has also played as a number nine for Liverpool, highlighting his versatility.
Barcelona’s interest in Diaz is well documented, with the Catalan giants failing with a move to sign him in the summer transfer window.
However, it appears as if they’ve not conceded defeat yet.
According to a report from Sport, Barcelona want to sign a wide player and Diaz is at the top of their list, with the likes of Rafael Leao, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Nico Williams also wanted by the club.
However, Deco feels Diaz is the missing piece of the puzzle and has a good rapport with his entourage, which would be helpful in the case of a future transfer.
The report also states that the Colombian’s camp are angry with Liverpool as he hasn’t yet received a new contract.
Barcelona, on the other hand, view this as a fantastic situation as it would allow them to pounce if contract talks come to a standstill.
Diaz has reportedly shown a clear willingness to join Barcelona in the past, but it remains to be seen how his future pans out.
Diaz’s stats this season
Alan Shearer described Diaz as a ‘sensational’ player after his brace against Tottenham as he once again showed his class as a centre forward under Slot.
| Luis Diaz stats | Apps | Goals | Assists | Mins played |
| Premier League | 17 | 8 | 2 | 1.060′ |
| UEFA Champions League | 6 | 3 | 1 | 390′ |
| EFL Cup | 1 | 1 | – | 90′ |
He’s tied down at the club until the summer of 2027 and with Liverpool in talks to renew Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contracts, a new deal for Diaz won’t be on their minds for the time being.
The Reds are under no pressure to sell and Diaz is loving life under Slot, so this doesn’t look like a transfer that could materialise. Not at this stage, at least.
