What Ibrahima Konate was spotted doing in-front of the Anfield crowd during Liverpool’s win over Leicester

Liverpool were good value for their win on Boxing Day as they stuck three goals past Leicester City.

The Reds had the chance to move seven points clear at the top of the Premier League after Chelsea lost to Fulham earlier in the day.

And despite conceding an early Jordan Ayew goal, Liverpool’s quality showed as they came back with three unanswered goals.

In truth, it was a straightforward win from the moment Curtis Jones put the Reds ahead early in the second-half.

After conceding eight goals over the past three Premier League games, it was nice to see the Liverpool defence untroubled for much of the second period.

And as Joe Gomez continues to shine, there was even an appearance from the injured Ibrahima Konate during the match.

Ibrahima Konate spotted waving to crowd

Konate should hopefully be back fit soon, but there is still no real, clear update on that front.

In the meantime, Gomez and Van Dijk continue to hold down the fort for the Reds.

But Konate’s uplifting presence has still been spotted around the Liverpool squad nonetheless.

That continued at Anfield on Thursday, when journalist Lewis Steele spotted a humorous moment between the Frenchman and the Liverpool crowd.

“Liverpool fans booing Leicester goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk for time-wasting as Ibrahima Konate runs down the touchline – he thinks they’re chanting his name and waves,” Steele reports on X.

Classic Ibou!

How many more games will Konate miss?

You can understand why Konate was confused here. Whenever the centre-back does anything of note during a match, the Liverpool fans hit him with a big old ‘IBOUUUU.’

At times this can sound like the crowd are booing something that has happened on the pitch.

With the fans actively showing dissent towards Stolarczyk on Boxing Day, Konate was confused in the opposite direction.

Beyond the fun and games, though, supporters will be desperate to see Konate back playing as soon as possible.

At the moment it’s difficult to say how many more matches the No.5 will miss. He looks sure to be out against West Ham on Sunday, but perhaps the match with Man United on Sunday, January 5th could be a realistic return date.
