Jamie Carragher risked the wrath of the Liverpool supporters with his comments on Mohamed Salah’s contract recently.

The Egyptian’s current deal expires at the end of the season and the Reds have thus far been unable to tie him down to a new contract.

Salah publicly claimed he was disappointed with Liverpool as they hadn’t offered him a new deal, to which the Reds icon responded in rather unexpected fashion.

Carragher dubbed Salah as selfish for his public outcry and his comments didn’t go down well with the Anfield faithful.

However, he appears to have redeemed himself as he ranked the Liverpool forward above Cristiano Ronaldo while ranking the Premier League’s greatest attackers.

Salah has been one of the most consistent players in world football since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2017 and is still going strong despite entering his 30s.

The Egyptian has led from the front under Arne Slot and has already notched up 16 goals and 13 assists in 23 appearances across all competitons, making him one of the most in-form players in the world this season.

Carragher was tasked with ranking the ten greatest attackers in Premier League history and unsurprisingly, Arsenal icon Thierry Henry topped his list.

However, the former Liverpool defender ranked Salah above Ronaldo, who won three Premier League titles and the Ballon d’Or during his successful spell with Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ronaldo cemented his status as a global superstar at Manchester United as he went toe to toe with Lionel Messi for over a decade.

Salah, on the other hand, endured an unsuccessful first stint in the Premier League with Chelsea, but he returned a few later in Liverpool red and has more than made amends.

It shouldn’t really come as a surprise, but purely in terms of the numbers, the Egyptian has been on a different level to most attackers who have graced the Premier League over the years.
