Liverpool came from behind twice to claim a point against Fulham in an entertaining game at Anfield.

An early Andy Robertson red card set the stage for one of the most tense fixtures of the season for Arne Slot’s side, with Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota the heroes for Liverpool as the two forwards found the back of the net to rescue a point for the Merseyside giants.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold slammed by Damien Delaney for his performance, though, there were certain aspects that Liverpool fans will be left frustrated by, especially with Robertson being sent off so early in the game.

Yet former Liverpool star Luis Garcia has pointed out something from this weekend’s result that could excite supporters.

Garcia says Liverpool showed they can get something no matter how tough the situation is

Speaking on ESPN FC, the pundit lauded Liverpool’s ability to once again get something in a game where the odds seemed against the Reds, with Jota scoring an 86th-minute equaliser to ensure the points were shared with Fulham.

Garcia said: “When we talk about Liverpool managing the season in all the different competitions, these kinds of moments are the ones that show you that they’re going to be there, because in the toughest moments, they manage to get a point, even with 10 men and recovering two times from behind, I think it’s something very, very remarkable.”

With Theo Walcott lauding Jota’s performance having returned to Liverpool action from injury, there were a lot of positives for the Reds to take from the performance against Fulham, even if the result will feel to some like two points dropped.

Yet with Arsenal also failing to win this weekend, Slot’s side are still in an incredibly healthy position to challenge for everything this season, and the Dutch coach will be confident that he can win silverware in his first year in charge at Anfield.

Who else do Liverpool face in December?

With December halfway done, Liverpool face just four more games before the calendar ticks over into 2025, with the Reds likely to go into the New Year top of the Premier League and already sat in first place in the UEFA Champions League standings.

Yet having drawn to Newcastle United and now Fulham, Liverpool’s four remaining fixtures of 2024 will not be a walk in the park, with a League Cup quarter-final away to Southampton coming up on Wednesday followed by a tricky away tie against Tottenham.

With Leicester City looking good under new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy and West Ham always in need of a result, Liverpool need to be at their absolute best if they’re to end 2024 on a high, and Slot needs to ensure performance levels don’t drop a single inch between now and the start of 2025.
