Liverpool were held for the second game running in the Premier League as they played out a 2-2 draw against Fulham at Anfield.

Andreas Pereira and Rodrigo Muniz gave Marco Silva’s side the lead twice on the lead, but Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota got their names on the scoresheet for Liverpool to salvage a point.

It was one of the most entertaining games of football filled with talking points, starting with Andy Robertson’s early red card.

And after the Scot’s dismissal, one player was given the almost impossible task of playing in an unfamiliar position while also being down to ten men…

Ryan Gravenberch was in the thick of the action from the get-go and was on the wrong end of a rough challenge from Andreas Pereira, for which the Brazilian was booked.

However, Mike Dean feels Periera should have been sent off for his challenge on Gravenberch as he stomped the Dutch midfielder in the back of his foot.

Nevertheless, the game took a turn for the worse for Liverpool as Periera scored shortly afterward and Robertson was given his marching orders for a foul on Harry Wilson.

In the wake of going down to ten men, Arne Slot refrained from making any substitutions, instead opting to deploy Gravenberch as a centre-back in a back three.

And the Dutchman was fantastic in an unfamiliar position before eventually being brought back into midfield after Curtis Jones’ substitution in the 70th minute.

Liverpool fans in awe of Ryan Gravenberch

@redfxb wrote: “Gravenberch’s defensive levels are skyrocketing. My brother is playing shifts from playing as a CB in back-3 to carrying the ball to the final third.”

@IronAvox wrote: “For someone who isn’t a CB, Gravenberch is doing pretty well,” while @Mobyhaque1 added: “Ryan Gravenberch has been excellent in the makeshift CB role since the Robbo red card.”

@LFC_Tactico quipped: “Gravenberch by the way… I’m running out of words for his phenomenal performances. CM, DM, CB all 10/10 performances.”

And finally, @ahmedIfc wrote: “Gravenberch is having to cover half the pitch by himself. Not sure if that’s sustainable for the rest of the game.”
