Arne Slot will have to wait a bit longer to experience his first Merseyside derby as Liverpool boss after the game against Everton was called off due to adverse weather conditions.
Officials from both clubs attended a Safety Advisory Group meeting at Goodison Park earlier today and decided that it wouldn’t be practical to go ahead with the game due to the high winds from Storm Darragh.
The date of the rearranged fixture is yet to be determined, but Liverpool will next be in action in midweek when they face Girona away from home in the UEFA Champions League.
After official confirmation that the Merseyside derby was postponed, the Anfield faithful took to social media to share their thoughts on whether it’s good news for them.
Liverpool fans provide mixed reactions to Merseyside derby postponement

The Liverpool squad would have been itching to get back onto the pitch to make amends after their 3-3 draw against Newcastle United last week.
The Reds’ lead at the top of the Premier League standings was cut to seven points as a late goal from Fabian Schar gave the Magpies a deserved point.
However, they’ll have to wait a bit longer to return to domestic action as they prepare to take on Fulham at Anfield next weekend.
Alexis Mac Allister was set to be suspended against Everton after picking up his fifth Premier League booking against Newcastle.
But now, a silver lining from the postponement of the game is that he’ll serve his suspension against Fulham, making him available for the game against Everton.
Fans took to X to express their delight as a player like Mac Allister would be invaluable in a Merseyside derby.
@TomG1989 wrote: “Could be better for us in all fairness, Mac Allister will be back and hopefully Jota and Konate back in the team,” while @ALiteralGod2 added: “Good for Liverpool. Now Mac Allister is suspended for Fulham at home instead.”
One fan claims Liverpool got a lucky let-off as coming up against an Everton side in such adverse weather conditions was hardly ideal.
Some others shared exactly what’s on the minds of every Liverpool fan as they’ll have to wait a bit longer to see their beloved team in action.

And finally, one section of the Anfield faithful is worried Arsenal and Chelsea will close the gap at the top this weekend, which could add to Liverpool’s pressure in the Premier League title race.

Liverpool players who could return for Girona
Mac Allister will be unavailable for Girona as he picked up his third UEFA Champions League booking of the season against Real Madrid, due to which he’ll serve a one-match ban.
Otherwise, Liverpool could have Federico Chiesa back in the squad, who recently scored on his return to action for the U-21s.
The likes of Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota could also be in contention, having missed a lot of action over the past month and a half due to hamstring and rib injuries, respectively.
Conor Bradley, Kostas Tsimikas and Ibrahima Konate, however, will not be available as they are long-term absentees.
