Liverpool were unable to claim all three points against Newcastle United in one of the most entertaining games of the season so far.
A late Fabian Schar equaliser snatched a win away from Arne Slot’s side as Newcastle drew 3-3 with Liverpool, with the Reds seeing their lead at the top of the Premier League cut down to just seven points.

With Slot revealing that Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher was ‘disapppinted’ with his mistake that allowed Newcastle to equalise, the Reds will want to bounce back quickly from last night’s dramatic draw on Tyneside.
And Tony Adams has said another Liverpool player failed to impress against Newcastle.

Joe Gomez criticised after ‘rough’ Liverpool display vs Newcastle
Speaking on Premier League Productions, the Arsenal legend was critical of Joe Gomez’s performance for Liverpool, with Adams saying: “Liverpool started very slowly, and Joe Gomez in particular had a rough night, but the substitutes changed the game, yet they couldn’t stop this late equaliser.”
With Slot recently praising Gomez for his ‘special’ mentality, the England international will be disappointed with how he performed for Liverpool in what was only his second Premier League start of the season.
Having made over 50 appearances for the Reds last campaign under Jurgen Klopp, Gomez’s minutes this season have dried up massively following the arrival of Slot, who has favoured other players in defence rather than the former Charlton Athletic star.
And last night showed why Slot might be right to opt for other options at the back over Gomez, who struggled massively against Newcastle and could again be in for a tough game on Saturday against Everton if the defender is again named in the starting XI.

Gomez needs to show why he was so trusted by Klopp vs Everton
Gomez made a risky decision this summer opting to stay at Liverpool rather than leaving for more regular football elsewhere in the Premier League, with the England international yet to make much of an impact in Slot’s historic tenure with the Reds.
Yet this weekend against Everton could be Gomez’s time to shine for Liverpool this season, with Saturday’s clash at Goodison Park expected to be a big one given the narrative surrounding the fixture.
Indeed, Gomez knows he is good enough to start in Liverpool’s defence either as a fullback or alongside Virgil van Dijk, and this Saturday’s tie against Everton needs to be the moment the 27-year-old grasps with both hands.
