Liverpool are set to be active in the January transfer window, with an attacker potentially on the agenda for the Reds.
Although Federico Chiesa is now returning to fitness for Liverpool, there’s a real chance that the Anfield side could look to bring in a forward with Mohamed Salah’s future still up in the air, with the winger currently set to leave as a free-agent next summer.
With Liverpool rumoured with a move for Omar Marmoush, replacing Salah will be no easy task for Arne Slot, who could find it impossible to find the right player if the Egyptian international does indeed leave for nothing at the end of the season.
Yet Liverpool seem to be turning to an unusual market for a potential attacking singing in MLS.

Liverpool monitoring LA Galaxy superstar Gabriel Pec
According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are one of many top European clubs keeping tabs on LA Galaxy winger Gabriel Pec, with the 23-year-old Brazilian winger arguably being the best player in MLS this year.
The forward recently beat Liverpool legend Luis Suarez to MLS Newcomer of the Year, with Pec also playing a huge role in guiding the Galaxy to their first MLS Cup final in over a decade, with the forward putting up some seriously impressive numbers.
| Gabriel Pec’s 2024 LA Galaxy stats | Games played | Goals | Assists |
| MLS/MLS play-offs | 37 | 19 | 17 |
| Leagues Cup | 3 | 2 | 1 |
| Total | 40 | 21 | 18 |
With nearly 40 goal contributions in all competitions this year, there’s a real chance that Pec could beat Suarez’s Inter Miami teammate Lionel Messi to the coveted MLS MVP award, something that the Argentine international seemingly had locked down after a fantastic year with the Herons.
And for Liverpool, Pec could be a unique left-field signing that could offer a lot of value in the attack, especially with the Brazilian youth international capable of playing across the entire front-three in a productive manner.

Pec could be a gamble worth taking for Liverpool
Although the quality in MLS is not as good when compared to Europe’s top-five leagues, 39 goal contributions from any player is worth sitting up for, and Liverpool target Pec has managed just that this year.
The 23-year-old winger has made a real name for himself in his first year with the Galaxy, who head into this weekend’s MLS Cup final the clear favourites against the New York Red Bulls with Pec in their ranks.
And for Liverpool, Pec could be worth the gamble in 2025, with the youngster clearly good enough for a move to one of Europe’s biggest sides having made MLS look easy with one of the league’s most historic sides.
