Liverpool are set to face a potentially season-defining week across all competitions as Arne Slot prepares for his toughest spell in charge of the club.
With 16 wins from 18 games across all competitions, the Reds lead the way in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
However, they host Real Madrid and Manchester City at Anfield in the coming days as two high-calibre sides stand between them and their ambitions.

And it appears as if they will have to negotiate that run without one of their defenders, who has suffered an injury setback.
Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas suffers fresh injury

The likes of Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota and Trent Alexander-Arnold are injured, while Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott are on the comeback trail after successfully recovering from their respective injury problems.
Ahead of the game against Real Madrid tomorrow night, Liverpool have been dealt with another injury blow, with Kostas Tsimikas suffering an ankle injury in training.
The time frame of his absence hasn’t been mentioned, but judging by Paul Joyce’s tweet, he isn’t expected to be on the sidelines for too long.
Slot will speak at a press conference later today to preview the clash against Real Madrid, so we are likely to hear more about Tsimikas’ injury from the boss himself.
Tsimikas stats this season
Tsimikas has shared minutes at left-back with Andy Robertson this season, but due to his injury, the Scot is now certain to start against both Real Madrid and Manchester City.
He has featured 11 times in all competitions this season and has given Robertson a run for his money with his assured defensive displays and set-piece threat.

| UEFA Champions League | 4 | – | 1 | 1 | 263′ |

Michael Owen described Tsimikas as a ‘brilliant’ player earlier this season and the Greek international has actually been a solid player under the new manager.
After blowing hot and cold throughout his Liverpool career, Tsimikas finally looked like he’d take over at left-back from Robertson, who hasn’t been at his best this season.
His latest injury throws a spanner into the works of those plans, but he will look to make a swift recovery to play a key role during the festive run-in.
