Liverpool have been linked with a host of players as we edge closer to the January transfer window.
The Reds have mostly been linked with attacking reinforcements, which is quite strange as that is arguably their strongest area of the pitch.
Liverpool have made contact to sign Rayan Cherki from Lyon, while Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush has keen admirers at Anfield.
And now, if reports from Portugal are to be believed, a record-breaking teenager has emerged on Liverpool’s radar.
Sporting CP prodigy Geovany Quenda linked with Liverpool move

Geovany Quenda has enjoyed a remarkable rise to the top this season and was called up to the Portugal squad by Roberto Martinez after his exploits with Sporting CP.
Recently, he became Sporting’s youngster goalscorer in Liga NOS history at the age of 17 years, five months and 27 days, breaking a 22-year-old record held by a certain Cristiano Ronaldo.
| Geovany Quenda stats | Apps | Goals | Assists | Mins played |
| Liga Portugal | 11 | 1 | 1 | 759′ |
| UEFA Champions League | 4 | – | 1 | 254′ |
| Allianz Cup | 1 | – | – | 33′ |
| Taça de Portugal | 1 | – | – | 64′ |
| Supertaça | 1 | 1 | – | 120′ |
And now, according to O Jogo, Liverpool are keen on signing him, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City also credited with an interest.
A host of other clubs from Europe like Juventus and RB Leipzig have also been mentioned as potential suitors, making him one of the most wanted players in European football.
Roberto Martinez hails ‘spectacular’ Quenda
The 17-year-old didn’t feature for Portugal despite being called up to the senior squad, although the fact that he was even nominated is a clear sign that he’s rated by Martinez.
Speaking about the explosive winger, Martinez said (via Mais Futebol): “More than a versatile player, he brings balance and technical ability, not just the position. He is a player with magic and who can make the difference in the final third.
“He is a player with a spectacular future and his experience of being in the national team, whether he plays on the pitch or not, is important.”
