It hasn’t been an easy start for Federico Chiesa at Liverpool after joining the club from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

The Italian has started just one game – the 5-1 FA Cup win against West Ham United – and has struggled to keep himself fit after swapping Italy for England.

Liverpool have given Chiesa a mini pre-season to get him up to speed as the Italian was frozen out of the Juventus squad before he secured a move to Anfield.

In the meantime, he has been linked with a return to his home country, with Inter Milan said to be keeping tabs on Chiesa.

And now, the latest news from Italy have confirmed whether the Serie A champions really want to sign the 26-year-old.

The Italian has played just 78 minutes across all competitions for Liverpool this season and is working his way up to full fitness.

Before the international break, Arne Slot said Chiesa has found it difficult to adapt to the Premier League but will be afforded all the time in the world to get up to speed.

The Dutchman also confirmed that Chiesa will not be allowed to leave Liverpool in January, adding that such a thought never crossed his mind so far.

The latest news from Italy also falls in line with recent developments, with journalist Fabrizio Biasin confirming that Inter have no interest in the 26-year-old whatsoever.

Chiesa’s stats for Liverpool

Despite starting just one game, Chiesa has one assist to his name for Liverpool as he set up Diogo Jota’s goal in the 5-1 EFL Cup rout of West Ham.

The Reds haven’t required his services yet but with games set to come thick and fast between now and the turn of the year, the upcoming run of fixtures is the perfect time for the Italian to prove his worth at Anfield.
