With the final international break of 2024 now here, Arne Slot’s are in an excellent position to really challenge for the Premier League title, even if Liverpool lost Trent Alexander-Arnold against Villa due to injury.

And Alexis Mac Allister has now shared how he and the Liverpool squad reacted to City’s loss.

Mac Allister ‘happy’ for Brighton after 2-1 Manchester City win

Speaking to TNT Sports, the Argentine international shared how happy he was to see his former side beat City in what will go down as a famous win for the Amex Stadium club, with Brighton again showing why they’re one of the most exciting teams in England this season.

Mac Allister made a name for himself at Brighton before joining Liverpool last year for £35m, and the midfielder was clearly pleased to see his former club pick up such a big win at home against the reigning English champions.

Mac Allister said when asked how he and the Liverpool squad reacted after finding out about Brighton’s Premier League win against City on Saturday: “I did know [the result], we were watching the game. I’m happy for Brighton.

“As you know I have a very special feeling for them, I’m really grateful and at the same time they’re in a very good moment. They won against one of the best teams in the world, so, happy for them but we are not thinking about other teams, we’re just focusing on ourselves.”

The Anfield side have been in sensational form in all competitions under Slot, with Liverpool looking as efficient as they ever have in some years with the Dutch coach getting the best out of the Reds.

And with the festive period on the horizon, Liverpool could start taking even more strides in becoming the Premier League title favourites, especially if no key players pick up injuries in this international break.
